Almost never unless you manually crank it up. 90% of the time your screen hangs around 450. Also outdoor readability depends on glare as well, glossier the screen more glare it shows and more light it needs to overcome the reflections.

For some reason, people claim that Sony Xperia 1 III or Xperia 1 ii is overheating. But I will tell you the truth.
I do have Xperia 1 II and OnePlus 9Pro. Believe or not, but OnePlus 9Pro is overheating like crazy when I'm outside (with auto brightness). Not gaming or any heavy apps, just do some pictures (not video). Maybe Sony has less brightness but it doesn't heats that much because of lower brightness (so it's actually good, not bad). To keep my OnePlus not overheating outside, I should use the same brightness as Sony Xperia has (because OnePlus 9pro will reduce the brightness anyway to try cool down the phone). I don't see any reason to have 1300-1600 peak brightness, because it's useless in real world.

Like you can tell the difference between the two options. It can get bright enough to see under sunlight. If you want a brighter screen get another phone. This screen has the thing that it is a 4k screen. It's the only phone in the world that has this resolution.
There is no other phone in the world that has it. Let this sing into your head for a moment.
Battery life is below average even for SD888; so is charging speed.
With a 4k screen to boot during videos, what did you expect?
The charging speed is because Xperia phones tend to use a feature to limit battery degradation.

Nowhere in the review GSM stated that the phone is a disappointment, you did. An anonymous nobody.

Diamor, 09 Jul 2021They trying so hard to sell every xperia every new years, a... moreTbh, they are also the only one to provide a phone without notch nor overly big radius corner, with flat screen and back, mSD, shutter button (really helpful to make photo with gloves on bike or hiking without opening the phone). So it can be complete shit, but for people that looks for that, we don't have a lot of choice, and that's a shame due to all the copycat brand.
Also selfy cam are not that useful, it's like the jack, it's really matter of need. I maybe used a selfy cam like twice in 4 year and quality was really not needed since the connection messed the flux in both ends. The guy in front of me could have had the last top lvl selfy cam, I just received a bunch of pixels.

I'm happy you praised this for it's camera performance. I had no doubt it would be great.
A must buy for someone looking for a highly customized phone.
