It's basic to understand. You're Chinese, you break the law in US, you will be condemned in US (Ask Huawei!). You don't have to win anything in China...

5- Mediatek is Taiwanese, not Chinese...you don't know the difference? It's geopolitic! Taiwanese is an allie of western countries, not China (their air force use American F16 and french mirage 2000)

6- what about Mediatek's endorsement by devs from western countries?

But you cry when someone relea... moreI take from your long-winded response and salad of tangential but unrelated events that you do not have an valid argument to rebate the fact that Mediatek does not endorse the 3rd-party ROM community. In fact, they even went as far as actively pursuing those that tried to make 3rd-party ROMs for their SoCs (many years back, claiming NDAs over GPL code), and to this date they still blatantly violate the GPL license. Just because it's hard to sue and win in China for a GPL violation does not change that fact.

      The only thing more illogical than recommending Qualcomm for anyone interested in 3rd-party ROMs is denying the reality that Qualcomm is indeed the best for that purpose, even if they largely suck in so many other things -- I do not expect McDonalds to deliver the finest french cuisine, but that does not change the fact they are still one of the most reliable places to get a burger anywhere in the world.

        That's not logical!

        Mediatek doesn't raise Qualcomm's faillures to an other level :
        - never menace with patents OEM which don't want to buy their chips (source : California Northern District Court - Judge Lucy Koh)
        - never assassinate competitors by selling soc under their costs (lead to Icera's death : source European Courthouse - Judge Margrethe Vestager)
        - never use LTE baseband patent to assassinate Intel's LTE activities (source European Courthouse - Judge Margrethe Vestager)
        - never refuse SEP to other chipmakers (both Korean Fair Trade Commission and California Northern District Court)
        You can find other Courthouses decisions in China or Taiwan.

        Mediatek doesn't release Cortex A57 in 20nm or Cortex X1 in "5nm" as it is unstable (and don't tell me about X20's heating, it will only proove you never used one!).
        Mediatek supports free AV1 hardware decoding since last year...Qualcomm prefers supporting patented MPEG5, Snapdragon 888 is still unable to support AV1 hardware decoding.
        Mediatek doesn't hide existance of LC3 standard for bluetooth audio when Qualcomm prefers proprietary Aptx.

        Mediatek considers OEM have to release sources...
        As there's not a single condemnation, Mediatek is probably legaly right.
        And serious ones (Xiaomi, Realme, Oppo, Sony, Samsung, HTC...) release sources...
        That's more than enough for indian devs. Remember Galileo!
        It seems part of community works against Mediatek (as I said, read some posts on Xiaomi.eu) and want us to continue to think the earth is flat!
        You're a part of this community.

        So buy your Snapdragon, get your obsolete video decoder and support your condemned and recidivist company.

        At least, this year I can get my Dimensity with AV1 support, 5G carrier aggregation in Europe...

        Let me have the freedom to make my choice and we both will be happy.

          Don't get me wrong, I would more than love to have competition and be right here cheering for the underdog to succeed -- but then reality kicks in, and it's really hard to cheer for the company that takes everything that's wrong in Qualcomm and raises it to very next level.

          Now it would be a good time to show me the sources in Mediatek's repositories (or upstream such as Code Aurora), not be dismissive with "use Google" to find what I very well know is acquired against Mediatek's wishes. Qualcomm works with the community, Mediatek actively works against the community. I'm sorry, but words are not gonna cut it against demonstrable and well-known facts.

            Just go on xiaomi.eu, and read how these people are openly hostile to Mediatek...with some insults to some customers.

            About sources, learn to use Google, you will find all you need. The keyword is Github.
            Indians not only build rom, but custom Kernels too.

And X... moreDude, it's not about "changing minds", but rather about having proper sources and access to the drivers/toolkits without resorting to ugly hacks, or falling on the wrong side of the licenses. Mediatek is notorious for its hostile attitude against 3rd party developers, so if you want to talk about changing minds, start by changing Mediatek!

              I'm sure "indian devs" can hack together lots of things, but that is *NOT* a proper custom ROM build that will pass all the charter requirements for stable, maintainable and independently reproducible such as in (official) LineageOS. That charter makes the whole difference, not just the official part. For instance, having official Pixel Experience is only a matter asking that label. LineageOS on the other hand actually has standards and enforces them precisely to iron out the steaming crap you are trying to glorify.

Mostly heating issues will get solved along with improved camera. 108MP hopefully. OP9P camera doesn't stand chance against three phones. Mi11Ultra/Vivo X60 Pro Plus/Oppo Find X3 Pro. Period. OP9Pro has great camera but competition has leapfrogged ahead and margin is lot better. I want to see where Honor goes with their flagships this year. Cant wait for August launch.

Period. Using custom rom on snapdragon devices take device to another level. Trust me. I flashed tons of roms since Redmi Note 4 Era and it's quiet commendable. Currently using Arrow OS on Redmi K20 Pro with 8Hours of screen on time and great performance.

                                    If the answer to that question is a fat resounding no, despite perhaps having some form of unofficial LOS version, then that's become the phone is in the sh*t tier of support and it's not worth it for any custom ROM enthusiast.
