The reason why I'm always talking about long term support is security. When we all have our entire lives on our mobile devices, I'm kinda shocked more people aren't demanding the same. If you have long term support, if a WiFi vulnerability is discovered or some other system level security issue, you'll get a fix for it. The issue with Android is that people get all the cool features ages ago, but they don't get any of security updates basically 2 years after phone release on most devices, 3 at best and you need to look at 500+ € range to get 3+1, 3+2 or 2+3 combo. And every time I mention this everyone goes into full on defense mode with excuse that GooglePlay updates patch it in most cases. Well, the issue is, it doesn't. They fix app level security issues, not system level unless the issue is with Gapps component in particular and GooglePlay can address it via Gapps component update. It'll NEVER patch the WiFi security issues as that's system core level and that can only get addressed by system wide security update which needs to be specifically issued by the phone vendor and cannot be issued by Google. Apple's commitment these days is 7 years. Of which 5 are for features updates (them being late or not relative to Android features is irrelevant). People also often praise OS fragmentation as benefit. Sure, you have 6 versions of OS out there used by everyone where Apple maybe has 2-3 as it pushes devices to latest versions more. But how is using device that hasn't received any security updates for 4 years a good thing because it stopped getting them years ago?

It's why people who had good experience with Nokia stick with Nokia even today. Until it'll disappoint them. And do that repeatedly. Then they'll swap the brand.

If Android is 10 years ahead even if the updates stop after 2 years, by the end of the 5th year, it's still 7 years ahead. I mean, you can use any device you like. People have preferences. There is no need to use twisted logic.

Not only american teenagers who seek that logo you know
At least teenagers in my "far" country too

I keep reading about this so-called "chip shortage" all over the place. And yet we see that Apple expects to sell 800 gazillion phones this year. Now when you add in all the other Android OEM's...another googolplex of phones this year...seems like this chip shortage is just a play to raise prices...you know supply and demand!

[deleted post]” You might not use the iPhone for Apple logo, but plenty of people do buy it for the logo. You can't deny that.”

Nothing bad with that, that’s called brand recognition. Most buy Samsung Android phones for exact same reason, in the end people want safe choices and trusted brands and what others use. Heck i bought Samsung wireless vacuum cleaner (JET) because of Samsung logo, if you want to put it like that :D

Don’t forget that it takes years to build that brand recognition and it only can happen with making great products over and over again. If company does bad products they will lose the brand name quite fast, just look HTC and LG for example.

By the way i also bought Sony WF-1000XM4 because of ”logo” :)

hmm, 22 Jul 2021I rather compare devices based on hardware and not by price... moreIf you only compare software. You can't compare software. Especially not here where just like with specs, everyone just compare "moar of everything" to "less". Not what kind of experience it actually is. I don't care if Android is 10 years ahead in number of features if phone stops getting any updates after just 2 years. It's worthless to me.
