25 July 2021
They grown bigger and more powerful, but some still shoot at 12 MPresolution - the Satio was one of the first to hit that number.

Jimbob, 25 Jul 2021"And the proprietary port is inexcusable, even for 200... moreMajority of producers used mini or micro USB ports in 2009, no proprietary. Only SE was still holding to its ancient port.

Don't forget the Nokia n8. The competitor to the Sony Ericsson.

Jimbob, 25 Jul 2021"And the proprietary port is inexcusable, even for 200... moreI have a Samsung Pixon12 in front of me, which came out a few months before the Satio - it has a microUSB port. And it's not the 2009 model to use microUSB:

          So, it's not "everyone".

Funny how we have gone back to the dystopia of 10-15 years ago with proprietary ports, no expandable memory and adaptors for audio.

I still have this phone that I bought back in 2010, I loved it, always used to show off the camera, even managed to install some custom firmware on it too. Only things I hated was the screen, I had already used symbian before so that wasnt really a problem but it just didn't translate very well back then to touchscreens, especially a resistive screen. Always found it satisfying pulling back the camera lens cover

I had a W800. It was a good phone and shooter. I think a narrower lens is better. Main lens should in the range of 28-35mm. Now they put 24mm and an UWA lens along, so it makes two wide lenses and doesn't make sense.

constipation, 25 Jul 2021Next Idea : 12MP 1/1.8" Nokia N8 vs modern 1/1.7"... morethis. this would be a nice comparison

"And the proprietary port is inexcusable, even for 2009. You needed a special cable to charge this phone" What are you smoking? The cable came in box & everyone was using their own ports back in 09.......

That seems to be 35mm eq lens. Nice.

                              Next Idea : 12MP 1/1.8" Nokia N8 vs modern 1/1.7" 12MP flagships (Xperia 1/5 Mark II/III, Galaxy S20/S21).

According to some sources, Satio's image sensor is a 1/2.55" type, producing a 12MP image with 1.4μm pixel size. This could've been more fair if you compared it with 1st gen Xperia 1, or even better, Xperia 5 just to see the size difference between Satio and Sony today's compact lineup.

Anonymous, 25 Jul 2021Too bad. Soon sony will stop making phonesWish they made another Xperia Compact phone the same size as the XZ1C or smaller.

Not much of a difference imo.

Un popular opinion - I actually liked the satio camera sample better maybe because of the better colours compared to the more natural or dull color processing of xperia 1iii
