Sure, you can disable ads but having ads included in an user interface in the first place is a major jerk move. I miss my Xiaomi Mi A1 which had a super fast and clean UI (bone stock Android), nowadays I wouldn't touch a Xiaomi with a ten foot pole.

Google will launch Android 12 OS in less than a month from now. Being Android One phone, HMD had yet to provide Android 11 OS update to at least half a dozen phones after 11 months. In remaining one month, they won't be able to do so. Even if they can't manage to provide monthly security updates and OS updates for their phones on time, still they are charging premium price for poor specifications offered.
