Wouldn't the bulge from the s-Pen insert renders the Fold3 use on solid surface impossible? It just defeats the purpose of using the folded-out unit for drawing or even taking dictation or notes by anyone, bear in mind everyone's multi-tasking all the time.
Technically good idea but not feasible 90% of the time; but that's my opinion.

And yes, sadly, it is only there because too many people push for it without actually knowing much about it.
So many even think it is waterproof rather than water-resistant, or think that the rating itself is what make the protection...

Anonymous, 27 Jul 2021The masses have taken over the markets. Most of these are j... moreTrue, and if at least most phones could have a GOOD camera setup, it wouldn't be an issue, but with the 2Mp plague, sub-12Mp rear shooters on Telephoto and/or Ultra-Wide, lack of Telephoto, Macro on the Ultra-Wide rather than the Telephoto, software Portrait, lack of real Zoom lens (continuously variable focal length), and all that, the smartphone market is a joke, it tries to put a huge emphasis on camera and isn't able to deliver.

Anonymous, 27 Jul 2021Why ip rating is useless??1) It cost money, it can add up to a heavy toll in certain cases.
2) It does absolutely nothing, it is just a certification, not a protection.
A non IP rated phone can have a better protection than an IP68 rated one, OnePlus used to make their phone water resistant without IP rating them, and they clearly at that time said that theirs and even IP rated phones shouldn't be voluntarily put under liquids.
3) It doesn't guarantee anything, many IP68 phones still get damaged and/or die from liquid regularly.
And none of the big (known/non-niche) brands cover water damages.
5) Its only job is to provide peace of mind, which is responsible for more dead phones than non-protected ones.
User gets a cognitive bias that their phone can be used underwater and do things that aren't at all anywhere good practices.
6) Some phones being able to happily often survive underwater create an additional lure into thinking it is meant for that, while IP rating never was about voluntarily submerging things.
It was about protection against the elements, like a security camera being able to take rain, or an electric outlet able to survive a flooding, but it isn't meant for volunteer immersion, in fact it isn't even adapted to devices you manipulate and carry around.
7) IP protection isn't cumulative, meaning an IPx8 phones won't protect for the same things an IPx5 or x6 one does (water jets) and taking an IP68 phone into a shower is literally taking it into uncharted territory as IPx7 and x8 is about immersion, which is why Sony test their phones for both IP65 & IP68, yet many ignore that.
8) The test is poorly adapted to real life conditions for a product like a smartphone and doesn't do anything to guarantee that a phone won't be defective, nor it certifies about time's caused wear, anything other than water, and it isn't repeatable, meaning it doesn't even guarantee that more than a single exposure, meaning that technically it only says that your phone can potentially survive once an exposure close to those encountered in the lab when it is still new.

I suspect they will until samsung redesigns the hinge to not bend so sharply. Only one way to find out though, I'll buy one... with the longest warranty possible :P

Wait... how can be a foldable be IPX8 water resistant with such a massive opening and moving parts? If this is indeed true, then it should be also possible to make water resistant phones with motorised cameras, yet there is no such phone to my knowledge.

For me, 15W charging is enough, as I do not stay all the day over my phone. But the battery on Z Flip3 must be somewhat improved. Idk about you guys but for me this is the best age of the phones, afterwards there will be exaggerated and sophisticated phones that will just take our time after them.

it is water resistant but at the same time it leaks?
if it is water that is leaking than samsung has one of the worst water cooling implementation.

But do the screens still crack with regular daily usage?
The last flip and fold phones had cracking screens even with people who babied their phones so all of these "features" are useless if the phone is still as fragile as the last set
