Vegetaholic, 27 Jul 2021OLED will not going anywhere. As OLED is king in TV and mob... moreOLED is nowhere near perfect and good FALD LCDs still have a lot of advantages over OLED.
OLED Pros:
-Perfect blacks
-Better contrast
-No haloing, artifacts or flickering in content with very small bright objects on a dark background
-Better screen uniformity
-Near instant response time(this can actually be con for low fps content like movies as there is no blur to hide the flickering)
OLED Cons:
-Poor near black(dark greys) handling
-Very low full screen brightness(20 to 30 times worse than the best consumer FALD LCDs)
-Not suitable for brightly lit rooms(not everyone can put their TV in a dungeon)
-Temporary image retention
-Colors become less saturated as brightness increases(due to WRGB subpixel layout)
-Much less color gamut coverage than the best LCDs

cyber, 27 Jul 2021oled is still superior, why samsung making us fools?I guess it is too expensive to produce and problems with longevity. Samsung for some reason has no OLED panels besides their phone division. But rumours are they starting to buy LG panels for QLED TV's so that would change soon regarding Samsung TV's at least.

If y'all think this is overpriced then IDK what the Asus PG32UQX would be because this is slightly cheaper and overall better (aside from the resolution). This is the best you can get for a monitor which is why it's priced like this but value-wise, it is bad. Odyssey G9 costs half of this while Odyssey G7 costs a quarter...of this and they're all on 240 Hz refresh rate. I hope Samsung will offer a more affordable variant, 32:9 is wayyyy too wide.

I also saw an Australian price, AUD 3,000: https://news.samsung.com/au/samsung-unveils-the-future-of-gaming-with-the-odyssey-neo-g9
I also checked the the Canadian, British, German and French press releases, but there were no prices listed there.

$2,500? That is beyond my reach, which is a real shame because this is a 32:9 curved monitor and I like it a lot. But I wonder if the Neo G9 with the mini LED panel will have a noticeable difference in terms of colour reproduction compared to the normal G9.
