01 August 2021
The embattled company is not giving up and is still making flagships - but it has had to limit its ambition for this generation.

Without Google services, Huawei smartphone seems nothing, as simple as that.

i used the poll link to vote, still problems here. I don't understand why bother with the base model, it's basically a mid ranger compared to the pro. other than that, no 3.5mm, too big both of them an no ability to unlock an put on a custom rom most importantly to get rid of harmony..

The Huawei P40 was one of the last small phones. RIP.

I was waiting for a p50pro (plus) with a 1 inch sensor IMX 800 sensor since March.. it didn't come so I bought the s21u and mi11u instead. Looking at the price and specs of the p50pro I don't regret my decision at all. Both are great and complement each other perfectly. Let's see what mix 4 and pixel 6 will bring in autumn. Keeping these two until a better candidate appears.
If it's gonna cost ~1000$ it better be better than what Samsung and xiaomi already made HALF A YEAR AGO!!

Bought a Mate 40 instead, I simply can't understand the decision from Huawei to cripple its own processors and disable the builtin 5G functionality that Kirin 9000 comes with.

                  Finally I'll take a P40 PRO +

Tbh unless the p50 pro+ is more expensive than the s21 ultra or mi 11 ultra I will not be interested. No gms isn't dealbreaker either. Maybe if I can search alternatives it gms then it isnt dealbreaker. The p50 Pro is already very expensive in China itself so I'm quite dissapointed. Hopefully they don't price the pro+ model like the last year mate 40 pro+. That had da best camera but da most expensive at 1600 euros? That is like almost 2 xiaomi mi 11.

Anonymous, 01 Aug 2021I doubt it. Last summer I did an experiment. I disabled LTE... moreThen we have dumb capitalists here who have disabled all the 3G bands to allegedly provide "better 4G experience"
I don't know why on earth would anyone do that.

                        Vanilla model makes more sense

Anonymous, 01 Aug 2021I doubt it. Last summer I did an experiment. I disabled LTE... moreIn some country where's high density usage with not much frequency released by the government, their recycling the bandwith faster.

                          For example in Indonesia.
Lots of carrier here already reduce the 3G bandwith. There is no more H+ (2x 5MHz). There's only a HSPA (1x 5MHz). It would be the same with 4G, once 5G kind of take off, the 4G will be reduced.

Anonymous, 01 Aug 2021I doubt it. Last summer I did an experiment. I disabled LTE... moreIn ASEAN country it's the other way around.
If you early adopter you got better deal.

When 4G were first introduced in Indonesia, the one with 4G got extra.
All the carrier will have something like this:
                            $2 = 2GB on all, 5GB on 4G only
                            $5 = 7GB on all, 20GB on 4G only

So, it's good to be the first adopter in ASEAN country

I think Huawei p50 doesn’t have OIS in main 50mp camera but P50 pro has. 🧐

"The lens has 90mm focal length"
No, again, that's not the focal length. That's the field of view! It's the field of view that a 90mm focal length produces on a full frame camera. Field of view and focal length are different things.

"The vanilla model has a more traditional 125mm periscope in front of a 12MP lens. That’s a lot of optical magnification (5x)"
The magnification of the lens itself is NOT 5 times as large as the magnification of the main camera lens. One shouldn't confuse the magnification of a lens with the field of view, which depends on the sensor size. Otherwise, 2x digital zoom must be also called 2x optical magnification.

Even the price would be 200€ and best cameras in da world, without Google services it would be worthless.

Based on my priorities, no jack, no all fov raw, basically no reason to buy.

                                      3,5x zoom compare to last year's 10x ? :( No tnx

                                        P50 is a gem
