Xiaomi unveils RedmiBook 15 Pro and e-Learning Edition for India with 11th gen Intel CPUs

03 August 2021
Both are largely the same laptop, though the Pro has a 4-core CPU with beefier Iris Xe graphics, the e-Learning model has a 2-core CPU.

More TN panels. Why these brands keep on putting terrible displays on their laptops?, Also Xiaomi should make some touchscreen laptops too. We need more 14 inches touchscreen laptops, there's no many choices out there.

The difference in performance is 10~15% max which counts if you game or do heavy task but office works in a i3~i5 laptop? it won't matter much.

The one on Infinix is just 4GB but already dual-channel, so system speed is faster. Infinix’s screen is already IPS as well. Hard to recommend the RedmiBook over the InBook. Xiaomi does not compete in the laptop segment.

There is corner cut here and there,
        - RAM soldered for 15.6"
        - TN panel
        - SATA SSD.
        - No Numpad
        - Small battery for modern 15.6"

But for casual use, its pretty good. 8gb ram (big enough for office+browsing and for office works you won't care that much on dual channel), SATA SSD (as long as its not HDD, windows 10 will works ok), Most of my co worker won't be bothered much with TN-panel, but Numpad absence is something they will question.
Its still nowhere to Redmi Note Pro on price/performance impact but hopefully it'll get better
Infinix have more bells and whistles like its much better screen and NVME m.2 which kills RedmiBook on benchmarks.
Acer may have something close but its acer.

This thing just flooded my country laptop market with decent spec for the price. Competitor only offer i3 compared Xiaomi i5 for the price

The only problem being its only 15.6" which most casual people look for 14".
and another being its a 15.6" without numpad which most people buying 15.6" look for.

omzig, 03 Aug 2021no one knows what kind of screens do those indian redmi not... moreThe consumers won’t care. You should look at the RedmiBook 15 internals. It’s an utter joke. You get:

            SATA SSD (not NVMe)
            Single channel RAM (bottlenecks performance)
Heatsink and fan too far away from processor
            Cheap hinge (watch the reviews)
A space for RAM slot but not utilized by Xiaomi
The screen is a TN LCD.

Infinix actually sells a laptop which is a lot better.

Reasons for not buying the e-learning edition.
              1) There is no backlight.
              2) The warranty and extra purchasable warranty doesn't consider Accidental Damages.
              3) Office H&S 2019 is full edition and not trial.
              4) HDMI is 1.4 and not 2.0
              5) It's a 15 inch laptop and yet it doesn't have numpad.
              6) No where mentioned on mi's website that it's an IPS display.
              8) 1.8kg is too heavy consdering other laptops are less than 1.5kg, yes even for 15inch.

Go with Acer. They have a similarly speced device on their website with ADP and better in every single way.
Lenovo support sucks. Dell I have no idea. Non-brand, ignore. Asus, no idea.
Let me know if something is wrong.

15.6" and mere 46 WHr? a bit tiny by today's standard.
It usually mean it still have 2.5" bay inside.

Most modern laptop now get rid of 2.5" bay in favor of secondary nvme m.2 slot.
It gave more room for battery. HP omen have 70 WHr and Asus TUF have whopper 90 WHr. Combined with AMD 7nm or Intel 10nm, it will easily last more than 10+ hour for light use.

Good that it doesn't have USB C ports. Dongle and adapter life is disgusting. And my office in PSU of India is not even adapted to HDMI age. All projectors/monitors rely on VGA only.

At first, I tought that e-learning is the bad version, but at the end is the most balanced one compared to the "higher one" which it was supposed to go with 12 GB or 16 GB RAM.
