I just upgraded my Magic2 to HarmonyOS last night. Working like a clock. Even my battery is holding better now.
I am thinking between Mix4 and P50 Pro+ as my next phone.
P50 Pro+ for HoS, Mix4 for UDC.
If Xiaomi would embrace HoS, I would go for Mix4 without any thinking about it.

I hope some day someone will make a decent 7" tablet. Xiaomi seems like the best candidate for it, but they hate midrange tablets for some reason.

And Samsung? Ah, you're not waiting for Apple to do it first so you can make them, back in 2030.

It is extremely exciting. Well done, screen manufacturers and well done, Xioami!
Hopefully this technology will rapidly become mainstream in the mid-range category too!

Aren't you guys curious as to why Xiaomi is using a flexible plastic display on a regular rectangular phone. I don't think we've seen this application before. I suspect the screen will curve, but this is a plastic display that has only been used for Folding phones. What's the benefit here? Does it have the same vulnerabilities as a plastic screen? Does it work better with the UDP?

Anonymous, 04 Aug 2021Unfortunately it'll be left to the likes of Samsung an... moreFunny, since Apple will only buy the ready technology without doing anything, and Samsung either finishes developing the one they patented, or they buy licenses from it, therefore it will not do anything either.

Evlo, 04 Aug 2021So how do they do BLACK?Well, maybe they use shutter of some sort just like OnePlus did on that McLaren phone for hiding main cameras when not in use. Basically it's a layer that makes zone over the lens black right underneath the OLED layer that displays normal colors. So it's behaving like there is solid background instead of transparent required for selfie cam. When display is off or when selfie cam is activated, that layer is turned off to let light pass through. That's how I'd solve this problem and given how it behaved after display was off and selfie cam suddenly appeared. You don't keep that black layer active when display is off to save power.

Trying to steal thunder from Samsung by announcing it one day before the Fold. The disrespect is real.
