08 August 2021
The vanilla P50 causes considerably less excitement.

    Must be some spydroid issue.

Huawei should have switched to Calyx OS... Would have been much more better for them.

Huawei have their own 5G technology except that they can not have the chips fabricated because all the fab companies with cutting edge technology have been forbidden to fabricate chips for them.
Hopefully by next year SMIC or the new Huawei fabs will have improved enough in tech abilities to fabricate some of the chips for Huawei.

Weird, because I'm sure I read somewhere that the SD888 would lack some image processing features that are exclusive to the kirin chip.

I'm very happy that Huawei is now backed by Qualcomm in getting chips. There will definitely be many more P50 devices sold and offered than the 4 million that were going to be sold exclusively with Kirin 9000s. Gotta say, it matches nicely up with Huawei's P50 slogan: Legend reborn.

Now all we need to do is let the content creators get their hands on it. Because strangely, no one rather than small (and imo, rather sus) reviewers have gotten their hands on the handset.

If I have been a Huawei's customer, I would choose kirin any day. Even if is 10-15% less powerful, it has better thermal and battery management, and the system works very smooth.

Mikele, 08 Aug 2021Not at all, 5G is new and it would take few years for more ... moreI wish phone companies were spending money to make 4G better and way more stable.
In many locations 4G is not any good compared to rich nations.
Low speed (rarely pass 20Mbps) and bad signal.

I'd rather have 100Mbps and excellent signal and stability than 1500 Mbps but signal dropping all the time.
I remember to read review of s20 ultra, guy rarely had 5G signal. He was in downtown.

SMIRNAS, 08 Aug 2021No 5G, No Deal Especially for that priceNot at all, 5G is new and it would take few years for more adoptions.

But if you're in New York, Tokyo, Beijing, London you may want to have 5G experience but then, the difference from 4G Lte is not a big deal.

As a power user, I digged well to the new P40 Pro and the phone is giving me what I demands from it.

On Maps I rely on Google Maps but Here We Go is more detailed and even their Maps you can go ahead to use ithem.

Apps however, it depends too and more working Apps are being added everyday so with time it would balanced out

I love Huawei versatility on their new products lately, because the situation created uncomfortable happenings for them and they have to get a lasting solution.

I struggled with banking and social media so even though I loved the P40 Pro+ hardware I couldn't use it as I wanted.
That pushed me to other devices from Sony, OnePlus and Asus - all of them overheated and had GPS issues which is either hardware or something within the Android 11/Maps location services. I'm going back to a P30 Pro because I need Google and a GPS system I can rely on.

there is no reason why this 4G model wouldnt do well, I would buy it if available in the UK, simply because 5G is still in its infancy and many countries are still having a slow roll out of the technology, as from next year I do believe Huawei will have their own chinese built 5G modem so will no longer be stuck behind the US sactions, as a samsung and an iPhone user, i think Huawei make the best smartphones and the best cameras, but time will tell if their OS can compete in any way though

Just web browsing was enough to pass 55 celsius degrees.
Do not compared cpu throttling with cores disable permanently.

No device with 888 is gonna have the X1 core disabled by firmware.
                                        Like A57 had to be.

                                        I say because I use SD810.
