Anonymous, 12 Aug 2021Software>>chipset...its time people realise thisCustom rom Developers or company can handle this. It's not in consumers hands. Almost 90% of companies is neglecting this section. One Plus who was king in this department for last three to four years is also on the verge of dying or no more best in that regard. Hopefully Pixel 6 series brings changes in this regard

Anonymous, 12 Aug 2021Then why do people pay more for the chipset? For longer duration use. Mediatek is now powerful enough to sustain the performance for two to three years. Excited for Dimensity successor in Flagships. Hopefully it is powerful enough to match snapdragon 898.

Good! It looks like an excellent chip.

The first to launch new chips but the last to update their fones.

I was waiting for this all my life.

You need proper software to extract the best out of an SOC.

The A14 is only powerful on paper and a few biased benchmarks.
The iOS software simply cannot utilize the full power of Ax series chips.

Whole nanometers thing is so overblown and if you have terrible chip design even 1nm won't help you. Also this whole "smaller chipsets on Androids are better". What has OS to do with die size? Also what has die size itself to do with performance directly? We've seen massive dies be terrible and we've seen massive dies do great. It's not indication of anything. Especially declaring "oh well Android chipsets, if they were the size of Apple's they be crushing everything". Based on what metric? Apple designs chipsets to do exactly what they want exactly where they want. The rest just buys off the shelf chipsets from Mediatek, Samsung or Qualcomm and run whatever OS it's readily available (Android). And they sort of make it work with what they have. That "Team Droid" totally tells how impartial you are while talking rubbish... Inbefore I'm once again branded as Apple Fanboy by resident Anon clowns because I don't praise Android/Qualcomm to hell and back.

This is a pretty big deal. The fact that these midrangers are offering pretty powerful tech. With 6nm transistor size is pretty amazing. - Also I have a feeling that MTK's new Dimensity 2000 range of SoC's are going to shock a lot of people. Also the Snapdragons latest 898 SoC is going to be on a whole new level. This is actually the biggest upgrade in SoC's for Android. This is so important combined with the powerhouse Dimensity SoC's. That Android could actually be closer to Apple silicon, so much so. That there maybe only half a generation gap between the two.

In any case. I prefer the SoC's on Android. As the dies are 30% smaller on Android. So if one was to increase the dies to apples SoC size. Android would be even more powerful.

So by understanding that androids SoC die size is considerably smaller than Apple silicon.

Its clear that the power to size ratio. Falls into Android being more powerful per size of die/SoC.

So I know which team I am on.

                          Team Droid.
