It just doesn't make sense to me. The only possible explanation is that you've never used a recent ColorOS and you're just complaining because it's popular.

But their decision to stop bringing out good phones and instead making average phones led to the reduced popularity ig. If only they put cooling on their phones as good as it is on their Legion gaming laptops, their phones would be selling very well as SD 888 or any other flagship chip has overheating issues and perhaps Lenovo can fix it

If the OnePlus ColorOS update only happens in China, that should be no problem. I did try out using ColorOS from my sister's Oppo Reno2. Not bad, but I still take the stock OxygenOS skin all day.

No. It's other way round. Imagine a OnePlus with stock Android instead of OxygenOS. Gross.
No one will ever include "stock Android" in upper mid range and flagship phones.
Only those who don't have budget to buy ad-free lineup of Xiaomi and others (i.e, "Mi" branded phones) complain about it.
Well, that's why Mi 11 Lite was launched (as "ad-free" but more expensive Note 10 Pro). And guess what happened? People still bought RN 10 more than 11 Lite.
Dude, most people don't give a damn which skin they are using. They just want a phone that doesn't strain their bank balance. That's it. And it is absolutely not possible to provide ad-free as well as inexpensive phone at the same time.
Even Motorola knows this. That's why they promise 1 upgrade and merely 2 years of quarterly updates to their devices.

ColorOS is more privacy invasive, second to MIUI in terms of data transmission to Chinese and other unknown servers. And in OPPO phones there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY to unlock the bootloader so you could flash LineageOS unlike in OxygenOS phones.

Stock android is most preferred thing across the globe. Skins are becoming shitty if you personally ask me. MIUI is the worst among all. Oxygen OS going in a same way. Color OS has became better but people still don't like it. One UI has became better but they insta bloatware through updates in their premium A series and S20 FE series. We don't have any choice left. I hope Motorola aggressively launches their products in competitive price categories. Looking forward to buy Moto Edge 20.
