Facebook Messenger updated with end-to-end encrypted voice and video calls

One of my friends challenged me to send a meme pic (just a man crying funnily, no nudity or explicit things) to him through messenger. He said messenger would block me right away. I couldn't believe it as messenger should not check my messages if no one reported. However, I was astonished as it blocked me right away. That was the day I last used messenger.

So basically no one. Most people never visit the Settings menu and everything is set to default so this point is moot.

WhatsApp however I cannot seem to get away from, my family and social circle all use it, to the point where that have seemingly convinced themselves communication simply isn’t possible without it.
Even at work people seem to use it for on the fly group comms.
I’d rather drop it and be done with Facebook as a whole, I do not like supporting that company in any way.

Why can't Facebook just put their messager in the app? Why two separate app? We have VK in Russia, a Facebook like app that let's you chat or make free calls right in the app.

Facebook and encryption doesnt work toghether, neighter privacy, anyway....everything who uses internet doesnt have it at all.
So you use it as you want, everyone will leave this world any time soon so why bother?!
