Cerberus , 17 Aug 2021So let me get this straight, not only do we not get a 25W c... moreI agree there might be no free S-Pen for indian buyers but there is a smart tag included for free, and about the free charger, IDK whether it's is included or not. It costs $30 extra but the thing to note is that prices are likely to be always have slight differences across the regions as it depends whether the product is sold via official store, be it online or brick and mortar ones, or unofficial ones because of which the prices tend to go up

[deleted post]Cheap does not necessarily mean bad quality - its all about managing the price-to-performance ratio. As customers, we are entitled to making a choice as per our priorities and budget. Samsung (and even Apple) who charge such heavy premium on phones are directly impacting the way we make that choice - especially due to budget issues. Naturally, people lean more towards brands like Realme, Xiaomi/Poco, Oppo, Oneplus, etc.

Seems like you have a grudge against the quality of POCO phones, and that is fine. Doesn't mean that Samsung does not have quality issues. Also, I will not buy the Fold3 because maybe I don't like it or maybe I can't afford it - but it's certainly not worth it. And none of these reasons classify any country as 3rd world.

            Prices are actually fair.
In Canadian market the base Fold 3 is costing $2270 w/o taxes. Add the taxes, gst and pst it comes at $2542. Now, take that 2542 and convert it into INR and the number you get is Rs. 149,992 depending on the exchange rate. So yes, the phone does not cost less or more in any other market.

Before you take Scamsung's side let me tell you, samsung sets higher prices in india than the US or Europe.. fine. But they just don't reduce prices at all. Nd this is happening after Huawei's exit I guess.
Yeah I kno Huawei wasn't that popular in india in premium segment but they were catching Samsung n flagship market with def grt grt cameras n competitive pricing nd offers too. Pixel was there in market too. Samsung is just being Greedy they even don't drop the prices of their televisions or wireless earphones or any product whereas every other company drops the prices even very lately Apple has dropped prices too. Samsung gv offers or drop prices in US n Europe but nvr in india. Haven't seen them doing that since note 9.
I nvr liked Xiaomi or Oneplus as company but now I really want them to kick shamesungs ass so hard.

Anonymous, 16 Aug 2021Before you bash Samsung, I'd like to tell you 2 things... moreSo let me get this straight, not only do we not get a 25W charger like the rest of the world - We are not even worthy to get the S-Pen that others get free with their ore-orders.

Also, before someone says, the US has taxes too. It doesn’t matter. Most buy their phones through their carriers which greatly reduces the prices making it affordable to own in the long term. Think of it like paying EMI in India except they get Data, Voice and whatnot bundled with their contracts. In India, we have the buy the phones outright and instead of sweetening the deal and giving us a charger free along with the S-Pen like Samsung is giving other countries, we, in India have to buy that separately too.

Now tell me who is paying more. Goddamn, we pay more for everything - most companies overcharge us and give us less always. Before you say taxes in India are high, companies like OnePlus manage to sell their OnePlus phones in India cheaper than in the rest of the world. Sure, they reduce 5G bands and whatnot but that’s a discussion for another day. Also, since Samsung didn’t include any freebies like the 25W Charger, S-Pen, S-Pen case, the least they could have done was reduce the price in India.

                          1) The prices for the US do not include taxes, so after that they are almost the same as India prices

I was expecting 135k for Fold3, considering all other country prices (I was planning to buy), but Samsung dissapointed Indian customers. Now, bye bye Fold3, welcome iPhone 13 Max!

Anyone buying a phone beyond INR 50,000 must have all other priorities in life sorted out.

WHY spend so much on phones when you can get SO MUCH MORE in real life. for INR 1,50,000 you can get good enough bikes or even rent a small apartment for a YEAR in a well-established metro area.

It is becoming more and more harder for common man to afford these crazy-priced phones here. I understand there is cutting-edge technology involved, but bigger brands like Samsung and Apple can do their bit to have the pricing done right - like the article mentions, Indians will have to pay 10K more on the base variant - that's not right.

No wonder Realme & Xiaomi are stealing the value-for-money segment by putting out competitive phones at far lesser price-points.
