DrColossus, 09 Nov 2012"abandon their phones like they normally do"!? ... morethe question is after how long. This year htc and samsumg started with ics and are now on 4.1 and will be upgraded to 4.2 next year. That's what I call support.
Sony on the other hand began with old old gingerbread and then took 4 months to move to ics. They are still releasing ics firmware as we speak.
Jellybean 4.1? that's coming to a sony 2012 device from mid q1 next year. Just pathetic when you look at the compettition

They upgraded all 12 Android products from 2011 to ICS in the first half of 2012!

They also upgraded their very first Android phone from 2009, the X10, from Donut all the way to Gingerbread!

Are you THAT cynical, or just a sock-puppet fanboy of some other vendor?

Anonymous, 08 Nov 2012Totally agreed ! These Clueless kids are mad at ppi Wait for the devices to come out, wait till you see the displays and read the reviews. This is not PPI hype but a big step forward. You will have to eat your own words soon enough.

In the meantime you can just continue to be in bad mood while the rest of us are happy about progress. Soon someone will come here and say everything was better before, then you and 'sick' can rant together with him how bad it is with technological advances.

Its good to see there is people like you, so the rest of us can remember to not become grumpy and backward as years pass by.

It's not funny when a manufacturer (SONY) tells you that the upgrade of their flagship devices takes them months. Even the newest Xperia T will be upgraded to Jelly Bean in 2013! Look at Samsung. This is pity because I think this will distract some people from buying Sony phones.

I could understand if Sony updated their 2-3 flagship devices in 2-3 months after the new Android revision is available. And not in over a half a year!

It's kind of true. The design for my previous Arc S was the best ever. The materials used were also better than Xperia S which I currently own. Xperia T which I saw only in the shops it's not brilliant in design and the quality of the back panel isn't sparkling... I still don't see any huge improvement over Xperia S and I like the transparent bar too much to trade in for another phone so fast. For a quad core and bigger screen from Sony I think I can change my mind. Still it doesn't bother me that they are not so fast with the updates because the phone is working fine...

AND REMEMBER: Xda is always a friendly site, just make an account, read, ask and act - Don't complain about updates. As an example, I have photo sphere working (JB 4.2 feature) on Xperia S with ICS thanks to some guys who are helping over there.

The specs are great but after a few Sony phone, I just shudder when it come to Sony's android update and support. Tracks records speaks louder than any spec sheets.

No matter how good the specs are, if Sony decided to abandon their phones like it usually do, I will never buy them.
