Mali gpu is replaced by AMD RDNA 2. Plus, RDNA Graphic speed is blowing out of the water.

I don’t see any advantage using pixel binning tech nowadays, besides it has very slow AF comparing with normal 12MP sensor, that’s why apple doesn’t think to use any big pixels in small sensor, the quality not really much differ than original 12MP
That’s why samsung can only use Laser AF besides of dual pixel PDAF, because of lower cost with laser to have big profit, besides xiaomi may brave enough to put 108 Billion Dual Pixel PDAF than thinking of high profit margin
Still prefer original 12-16MP is enough, pixel binning is good for UltraWide camera since AF is not really important but can shoot Macro from UW lens

I disagree with you about the excessive noise reduction, though - On the SD variant noises are easily noticeable in shadows, and I feel like the amount of it that is being applied is just right.

Cause the snapdragon version still differs from heavy noise reduction and excessive sharpening. And some of the other issues even if not as strong.

Anonymous, 22 Aug 2021I don't think they are ahead in camera department. I t... moreYour comment is inaccurate in many ways but mostly because you're overgeneralising Samsung's processing traits. The Snapdragon variant and the Exynos variant of S21 Ultra literally behave like different phones from two separate brands despite sharing the same camera hardware purely due to the difference in software.
The Exynos variant has easily one of the worst flagship camera array in 2021, hands down. It goes overboard with eliminating chroma noise and desaturate colours in finest details (so bush or trees in distant always have hazy greens), while creating a strong oilpainting effect that hasn't been changed much since Galaxy S10 thanks to aggressive sharpening and luminance noise reduction. It's honestly a bad photoshop camera during the day.
The SD variant, on the other hand, has none of those issues. Sharpening is still a bit strong but nowhere near as terrible as how the Exynos variant does, and it actually does fantastic job at tone-mapping the scene correctly, balancing out highlights and shadows and preserving finest textures and colour details.
Anandtech's recent smartphone camera test shows that the SD variant's photos looked the most closest to the references (that had been taken by X-T30 and manually edited to more accurately represent the scenes in terms of exposure), so all of your complains about "not capturing true shadows" (There is no such thing called "black object", by the way - our eyes always capture some shades in even the darkest looking objects, unless we're in extreme low light or staring at a Vantablack-painted surface) or "non-stop HDR" (Which is also not true since Samsung phones only activate HDR when it's needed) are completely moot.

Mobilemaster, 21 Aug 2021You are right, when it comes to camera quality. Samsung is ... moreI don't think they are ahead in camera department. I think Samsung has so much overplayed post effects of their output images that they are laughable.
First of all non-stop HDR means you can't capture deep shadows, S21 Ultra lifts shadows like crazy. It lifts them so much that even black objects which should be black are faded black instead. It has hard time recognizing objects and most of the time it will get it wrong and lift the blacks thinking it's the shadow. It also lifts black in the background, killing any contrast and creating haze like effect. This is pretty evident when you shoot the skyline in the distance. It's all hazed and foggy even though it isn't and even though there is strong sunlight hitting them creating harsh shadows and highlights off their windows but Samsung kills them both effectively, it evens them out. Problem with Sasmung alway HDR on is that you can't take simple expose/underexpose scenarios where you want your closer subject to be all black against the properly exposed background. Samsung makes everything evenly exposed with frame stacking and tone maping and it looks like a poorly blended composite from someone who just installed Photoshop.
Shooting against windows or portal light is another problem where the subject will end up looking underexposed because phone tries so hard to not blow out whats behind a protal and then it makes whatever it is outside the window more important than the subject. When speaking of overblown parts and pieces Samsung thinks they have a workaround, so whenver you are shooting something white-white that will eventual overexpose Samsung changes the temeprature of it by coloring it either blue or yellow and then it paints in the sports with no data with either light blue or light yellow. That way it's misleading non experienced users that their photo doesn't have blown spots just because they don't show as white.
Overshaprening in hight frequency areas is another amateur post job Samsung does. Simple experinemt: take images of you dad with hairy lags in shorts and see how Samsung oversharpenes the leg hair compared to grass, gravel or sand. Phone can't recognize it's human body hair and that it shouldn't be shaprened. It recognizes it as the highest frequency inside the image and it amplifies it to give you the notion of preserving details. Problem is that your dad's hairy legs will look more important in the image than your dads face because phone has amplified it.
Color, contrast and saturation is still where Samsung is absoltuely the worst. It's like you walked into Best Buy TV section and you are mesmerized by a TV that has saturation crancked to oblivion. Samsung favorite scene where it dials vibrance, saturation and what not is green grass and blue sky scene recognition. Both colors end up being toxic looking. Simply put phone kills colors most of the time it makes a huge mess which might be good for Instagram but it's no good for anything else.

Anonymous, 21 Aug 2021Sad truth. Especially about the old outdated front camera. ... moreI agree with you. Sony has the technology, the problem is they are not doing the right thing, and this is sad. Japanese people are so smart and also nice and hard working. I remember in 2008, 2009 they had a lot of phone brands(some of them where not only phone brands) such as: Casio, Hitachi, Panasonic, Nec, Toshiba, before 2008 Mitsubishi(yes, they also made phones) and Sanyo. Now what remains(and what is still made in Japan) is Kyocera and Fujitsu only(I don't mention Sony here, because now all of their phones are made outside of Japan, but in 2007 things where different). So it is sad seeing some amazing brands disappear from the phone business. I remember back in 2007, 2008, as a kid I was so proud of Japanese phones. They where ahead of the West in technology. I would like those times to come back, but I think this won't happen.

Its not that Sony couldn't be doing better. They just don't have the right people managing the mobile division.
It's Sony. They have the name, tech, factories, money, etc. They make the sensors. Their colors are nice usually. But it just doesn't hold up. And not because it's not over sharpened enough. Because they simply have lazy processing.

I love Japan, but truth is Japanese can not beat Koreans at smart phone camera. It is so weird that Japanese DSLR are the best in the world, even Sony DSLR is very good, but Sony smartphones can not compete with the likes of Samsung, or Huawei.
For example Sony made a mistake using the same old 8 MP 1080p selfie camera, when a lot of fans complained about the predecessors low quality selfie camera. A flagship phone must have a good selfie camera too.
