the real test is the durability of the phone and its toughness.that is something nobody can beat in case of nokia .not like Samsung where the phone looks like a plastic box over a year of use with hardly any colour left on it .in any case WP gives a premium feel and that too with NOKIA

truth-telling , 11 Nov 2012i have have used the galaxy s2 and 3 first of all there che... moreAgreed, longtime s2 user, well got it like a week after UK release. Admit i loved it, but it was time for change, i only went to shop to have a look at windows 8 phones and was so impressed by the nokia lumia 920 that i bought it. Really smooth in its responsiveness, fairly heavy but feels so solid and such good build quality that you ignore its weight or like me consider it a plus.
I admit app store is a little lacking, for me its radio and arriva bus app mainly, as tickets are cheaper through app than from bus driver. As alot of people say most apps are only ever used a few times, and a lot are just used to fix or add functions you expected to have.
Only real gripe thats probably long term is that the browser isnt great(well same for some others parts/functions), yea things load well enough, but menus and options are lacking, i cant even figure out how to set a home page, and changing tab and favourites seem a bit long winded.
Other things includes stuff like trying to bring a menu down from tiled screen, like i do on my s2, plus other little habits like back button is on opposite to what im used and sometimes forget so it loads bing search instead. Trivial stuff that you either get used to in time or gets fixed or functionality added.
Upside is my 920 works even if i have gloves on, which will be great in these coming winter days and months and i'll get laugh at all those that have to take theirs off to do anything :)
I also like the camera, that the physical button that loads it also can be used to take the photo, so much better than trying to aim and fiddling with pressing something on screen.
Screen really does look excellent, thought s2 was good but this oh wow :)
Agree that windows phones have had a habit of being behind in hardware aspects such as processor and ram with quad core and 2gb ram phones appearing now, but this doesnt feel underpowered, so no complaints, if you truely want to game get a vita or 3ds, for phones games only neeed to be enough to pass the time a little.
Microsoft for what ever reason seem to be avoiding making the windows phone system too fragmented by setting the hardware specs and as stated that makes it easier for devolopers. The fact a windows 8 app should run regardless of which windows 8 handset you have is great, i got truely sick of having to check for s2 comments for any updates or installs on android. Im keeping my s2 though for some rooting fun, now its not my main phone i can take risks, cant wait to try mozillas OS and webOS if possible.

And anyway, just compare a single core droid and a wp, you will clearly see results. My cousin's low end droid lags like hell where Htc HD2(windows mobile not wp) even runs smoother than it.
And all those S3 fans, drop an s3 and a lumia 920 from 5 feet and see what happens!

The thing is, most of these people commenting here have never used a windows phone 8 smartphone. Anyway, here are the real facts
1. Windows phones have more user satisfaction than android and even IOS except the lack of apps.
2. It is smoother and it doesn't lag.
3. It's modern Interface is best for social.
4. It is a whole new experience where android is slightly based on IOS.
5. It is super simple to use.
6. It looks cooler than android. Ha ha ha.
7. It is a big step to improve modern mobile.
But it hasn't achieved the android level yet. It will take some time for sure. And it's main disadvantage is it is closed source.

I really don't bother how many cores my phone has? But I'm worried if it lagging, doesn't have good document editor, doesn't have good Camera and good internet experience. And most importantly good build quality, a phone that can use 3,4 years.
