Unfortunately there is no such Android tablet that can compete against the iPad Mini.
In that size of Tablets, Samsung has stopped caring and launches versions with very poor features (Tab A7 Lite, cough, cough) and other brands are not interested in that niche of markets with which Apple has the free way to sweep in that segment of devices.

By that time, the air can use OLED or 120Hz or FaceID and a newer chip. but I also think it will be harder for Apple to upsell by the time it happens.
