IpsDisplay, 27 Aug 2021Correction it's 8k on all the Xiaomi ultra camerasthat's respectable.. now you've got me but the bump is too big sadly :/ Let's see what the Mi 12 series will bring.

IpsDisplay, 26 Aug 2021 I believe Xiaomi's ultra phones can run 4k on every camerahaving 4K on all cameras is standard for Samsung flagships. I couldn't downgrade to another brand just for that alone.

Anonymous, 26 Aug 2021ISP is mostly of zero use What's the most importan... moreDedicated ISPs are mostly used when the data to be dealt with is too large that soc ISP cannot handle it by themselves. The Nokias (808, 9 pureview) used it like that.
The pixels used it because of energy efficiency. Pixels without visual core chew through the battery.

We don't know which route vivo is going to take, so calling it useless would be premature.

I for one am very interested in the images produced by their ISP.

YUKI93, 26 Aug 2021Having an in-house ISP is all great but at the end of the d... moreISP is mostly of zero use

What's the most important is the algorithms that they use to process images.

Images can be processed on any hardware, you don't need specialized hardware, just regular inbuilt from MediaTek or Snapdragon is enough.

Having an in-house ISP is all great but at the end of the day, the image processing algorithm itself is what that matters the most. I'm yet to see any new Android smartphone with modern camera sensor that can truly replicate Nokia/Microsoft PureView's true-to-life image quality with its natural detail and realistic colour, particularly from the 808 PureView and the Lumia 950/950 XL. Even Google's widely popular GCam algorithm doesn't impress me much. Sony seems to come close enough when it comes to detail realism, but it ain't a true Lumia replacement either.

Anonymous, 26 Aug 2021ISP are useless anyways, they can run image algorithms on a... morerelease order is Pixel 4 -> 4a (5G) -> 5. Pixel 5 also doesn't have the neural core just to be correct.
Don't know either why the chinese switch to custom ISPs suddenly maybe they want to do the same as Google with Tensor and built a semi-custom SoC instead of using Qualcomm/US tech directly. Or they are preparing to be ban hammered like Huawei soon.

phone can't even record 4K with all cameras and that is what you call the best? now I can't trust the rest either.

ISP are useless anyways, they can run image algorithms on any run off the mill processors without needing specialized ones

Google made special image processor for the Pixel 4 and Pixel 5 but for the next pixel 4A they didn't make a special processor but just utilized and algorithms on the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor self without needing a special image processor like the pixel 4 and 5
