And people still haven't gotten out of intel's marketing bullshit that makes a layman think 'í7 is the best'.

Basically, an i7 Mi book is about 1000 dollars as much as a MacBook Air but i7 is inferior to M1 chip being old type CPU and slower. My i7 pc 10th generation is running slower than my M1 MacBook Pro running windows emulated. Running M1 native apps are way faster than the same apps running on i7 pc. I am thinking to sell my pc because it is way slower in any comparison. An i5 Mi Book is noticeably cheaper compared to a MacBook Air (though not by much) but i5 with just 8 GB of RAM would be pretty useless for anything more than browsing the net or writing documents.

Troll Killer Junior, 27 Aug 2021I am not that much of a PC gut but why does everyone hate ... moreIt is a long story. AMD and Intel was equal rivals until 2011. In 2011 AMD was going to release its new processor line: Bulldozer. Bulldozer was fine advertised and expected to crush Intel like a real Bulldozer. So Intel revolutionized its processors in the second generation to counter the Bulldozer. Second generation Intel Core processors was so good. And guess what happened? AMD Bulldozer was a huge failure. It came with very low IPC rates and heats like a volcano. But AMD kept developing Bulldozer for years and But Intel quickly captured the market.

With huge market share Intel become nearly monopoly in desktop and laptop processors. This has been a bitter experience for consumers. Because every year Intel just gave %5 performance increase for much more money. Processors were getting more and more expensive and gave just %3 to %5 performance increase. On top of that, it was necessary to change the motherboard every year. Although not required, Intel required a new motherboard with each new generation. Just for sake of money... But in reality, Intel's monopoly was AMD's fault.

Then legendary engineer Jim keller takes charge once again. With CEO Lisa Su's dedication and Jim Keller's experience AMD created Ryzen. An architecture that will strike Intel's dominance. But Intel started playing dirty as it was. Blackmailed brands not to use AMD chips. If any brand uses AMD chips and produce good computers with it, that brand would lose their "privileges". These privileges were reaching Intel chips earlier and cheaper.

For first 2 generations of Ryzen, that threat worked and we couldn't see much laptops and desktops from big brands like HP, Acer, Lenovo, Dell and others. But with Ryzen 3000 series, that changed and now, with Ryzen 5000 series, despite the global chip crisis, you can find hundreds of options.

I thought AMD and Intel were equally good

SigmaR, 27 Aug 2021I don't understand why they have to make them so simil... moreThey might not have designed it themselves. Most of their products are ODM so the design and manufacture is outsourced to third parties who specialize in the ODM market. Around 75% of their phones are ODM (basically the Redmi branded ones). Not sure for these specific laptops though whether they were self designed or they just added their logo to an ODM laptop

I don't understand why they have to make them so similar to Macbooks. Why can't they have their own designers make something more original?

No AMD, No Buy. When will Xiaomi ever realise this?

This is weird. Their phones charging at 120w while laptop at 65w?

Good models. But definitely need options in AMD as well!
