Nokia being as huge as it was meant that it was a slow death - but all the signs were there that Nokia's time at the top is over.

mawlki, 10 Sep 2021Actually a lot of Iphone users get a lot of years out of 1 ... morePeople get years of use out of many phones.
The hardware was in fact a downfall for iphones for years because of smaller than average battery capacities, ram, and storage. Rhey would die quick, crash, and get bogged down.
And os updates in part sometimes caused that. And sometimes were nightmares because they were rush released more beta like with many issues.
Its not all that cut and dry with their "quality".

ntraghav, 30 Aug 2021I agree with you however don't you think loyal custome... moreActually a lot of Iphone users get a lot of years out of 1 phone thanks to build quality and OS updates, so the value for money is not so bad. Besides that there is the relative high value of these phones when one sells theme if they kept the phone in good condition that is. This is nice when upgrading to a new Iphone within 4 years or so.

That's nonsense. I used this phone and back on day it was very advance. I didn't swap it with blackberry or iphone. I used to play motion sensor games and chat, whatsapp. It was only in future it lacked app support but eveything else was great for that time.

ntraghav, 31 Aug 2021Yeah true everyone has their own taste however just to corr... moreThat is completely false. They gained more popularity with Android but were right there behind Nokia before that. At least as far as devices go. Maybe not quite as much popularity but on hardware and camera were one of the only other relevant ones.
They had the first camera phone.
Released most releases of mega pixel updates from that up to 12mp.
Even released the first phone with 720p recording or playback.
Often best in camera behind Nokia. Even performing Sony there most of the time.
The omnia hd was one of the best symbian devices.

Mobilemaster, 31 Aug 2021Yeah, maybe there will be no competition, but who knows? Sa... moreYeah true everyone has their own taste however just to correct you, Samsung's popularity gained only after switching to Android, hardware wise they were not even close to Nokia during the last decades. They do not have any iconic model to point like the Nokia's. As far as I know it should be samsung basic edition. If there is no android samsung is also dead.

YUKI93, 31 Aug 2021Unpopular? You may want to check the Nokia Lumia 520. That ... more” You may want to check the Nokia Lumia 520. That is the best-selling Windows Phone device in history, even outselling both iPhone and Android at some point.”

This of course isn’t true, i mean the best-selling Windows phone part is, but not the last part. It sold over 12 million in a year, Apple sold 150 million iPhones in same year.

Talking about Windows Mobile, it is true that OS doesn't need so much of RAM, but to be honest the UI was not looking so great, personally I never loved the tiles. But everybody has its own taste right?

If they did, there won't be any competition in mobile OS. Also, not everyone would like to live in a Google-Apple duopoly world. The day when I made the switch from Android to Windows Phone back in 2016 really shows that there is a need to shake off the duopoly.

The last and may be the best phone from Nokia was N900. I still have good old 'brick' 9500 and 6230i and of course N900.

The N97 was my last Nokia. It was a disaster for me after many Nokia's. The N95 was the best I ever had. The N97 I returned for repairs 6x due to it constantly freezing with a white screen forcing me to hard reboot. Form factor it was nice but the constant reboot just wore me down

                                  To all the Nokia Haters,
We still have 15+ years of Nokia Device with respect to most Models running pretty well Globally till today. I myself own several N series mobile phone including E90 Communicator.
I really wonder will any of the android or iOS mobile phones will last this long. Someday they called a samsung S1 or S2 a flagship or iPhone 3Gs. Today how many running S1 or S2 or Iphone 3Gs do we really have. It's not about the nostalgic thing. HMD's acquisition on Nokia is like fuel over fire. If Moto can make use of its iconic Moto Razr, we have many Iconic Nokia Mobiles out there. HMD is killing the already dead nokia.

I think the Nokia strategy was solid with the purchase of QT and the modernisation to Meego planned but the inability to get the Meego and Symbian teams to work together on an app platform, the cutting costs to the last dime (given a few more MB of video RAM on the N97 would have been a massive improvement, resistive touch was terrible) and the story might have beena little different.

Nokia would maybe have been the Samsung of today.

mawlki, 29 Aug 2021Ehm.. nope! They are perfectly fine. Not much growth possib... moreI agree with you however don't you think loyal customers also think about value for money. How long will you just pay for an ecosystem. I guess they should come up with something like transparent mobile phone it will make sense par with the price else it's going to all same with iphone 12,13,14,15 etc etc... What we call futuristic is already available presently.

Nokia's distinct models + Android OS will leave Chinese companies clueless. It will be Android Nokia vs Others... These days there is no difference between the form factor. It's all bar phones. If Moto can bring it's iconic Moto Razr as a flagship. I wonder how many Flagship can Nokia bring with Android OS alone making a difference... Inspite of all xyz fact about Android being better, couple of years ago 2GB RAM was enough, then 4GB RAM was decent now we are jumping into 12 and 18 GB RAM. With Windows phone we were able to get things done in 1 GB RAM and the only concern was support for apps.
