Also lol at no inspiration from MeeGo when it had the gesture based UI that android and iphone are using today

Hardware keyboard would be welcome on any android or iphone!

The phone was not advertised, there was no promotion from Microsoft unlike the Lumia series of Nokia phones. After all, it sold millions, but somewhere around 2-4 million.

Its the other way around. Elop had to kill Symbian and Meego for iphone and spyware Android to succeed.
No internet hype machine can chnage this truth . Too many witnesses. The biggest loss here was and is consumer privacy.

N9 and Meego was discontinued by Elop even before it was released. they just released it as discontinued devices and they didn't even advertised it, but yet it managed to sell millions of devices.

Hemedans, 29 Aug 2021Meego project involved lot of companies, including players ... moreNobody. Even though Nokia tried to push it, after N9 failed to succeed (and it failed), no one ever tried to restart it. The system is ancient, from times, when non-touch Symbian was the symbol of operating system. But modern age is somewhere else and no one is ever interested in antiques.

blue.sun, 29 Aug 2021No, we couldn't, and you know that very well. Meego wa... moreMeego was way ahead of others Not just geek system, proof is untill Today 2021 lot of Android phones and iphones imitate Meego from 2011, from double tap to awake, glance screen (always on display), true multitasking, dark ui, aggregating all user things and notification in one place, gesture based ui, NFC, notification on lock-screen etc. check this video of os from 2011
                            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x057oh0x5p8

without single advertisement budget from Elop, N9 managed to outsold all wp devices, Nokia didn't reveal officials figures but it was estimated 5 million units were sold. until today you can easily get N9 as proof of how many device it sold.

and iphone was Never a Nokia Biggest competitor or much threat, i dont know why people keep repeating this lie.
-from 2007 to 2010 Apple wasnt even close to reach Nokia smartphone sales, iphone existence didnt hurt Nokia sales
-majority of Iphone sales came from North america, Nokia didnt have much presence in North america, even at their peak Nokia had like 12% marketshare there.
-nokia sold budget devices a lot, they had devices cost as low as $16, no way someone who can only afford $16 device to leave Nokia and buy Iphone. etc
so its Not true that existence of iphone would make Meego fail.

LOL what a headline! They were not trying to do anything specialy not to kill the the iPhone which was nothing in those times cause at those times Nokia was above everyone so high no one could touch them.
