Why not demand great software support and let USERS decide when to upgrade and not mega corporations that drop support of your device after just 2-3 years? Maybe someone is poor and wants to use it for longer. Maybe someone doesn't need all the new features every year. Or even 5 years.

You people are so funny, always saying people are poor and that they should buy a new phone. Sure. Are you going to chuck in 500€? Maybe someone fancies the folding phone. Are you going to give them 1800€ or are you just going to call them "poor"? You people are hilarious in a stupid way.

People want to move to new design, features.
Even the average iPhone user upgrades in 2-3 yrs.

I really find it hard to believe that the 2015 iPhone 6S/6S Plus and also the 2014 iPad Air 2 can manage to get their sixth and seventh (probably final) major OS update respectively. If it's an Android phone, I would definitely be using a custom ROM by now. If it's an Android tablet, it definitely wouldn't stand a chance. I have my mum's old 2014 Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 3G tablet dusting in the cupboard that is forever stuck at 4.4.2 KitKat since day one. It is crazy to see how long Apple can update their devices.

Usually iPhones... moreIt's already official that iPhone 6s is supported by iOS 15. 5 years is a general rule, but they sometimes make exceptions if model is very popular. But it's always in terms of being even longer, not shorter. At least that has been a trend for last 10 years. And that's just major OS updates. After those stop, you still get several years of security updates. For example, iPhone 4s released in 2011 received last security update in July 2019. That's 8 years after launch. Pretty cool.

                      https://www.apple.com/ios/ios-15-preview/
Scroll to almost the bottom of the page, There is a list of supported devices.

And iPhones getting only 5 years of updates is in the past. The iPhone 4s already got 5 years (2011–2016, iOS 5.0–9.3.5),
                      Same as iPhone 5 (2012–2017, iOS 6.0–10.3.3),
                      And iPhone 6 (2014–2019, iOS 8.0–12),
                      The 5s even for 6 years (2013–2019, iOS 7.0–12)
And both the iPhone 5s And 6 are getting security updates to this day, which means at least 8 years of continued security updates for 5s.

Until now, every S upgrade of the iPhone increased the amount of major updates by 1, and the 6s is no exception
                      2G/3G got 2 major updates
3GS was the first to get 3 major updates
4s was the first to get 4 major updates
5s was the first to get 5 major updates
6s was the first to get 6 major updates
This pattern would even mean that the 8 and X get 7 major updates, and there is a chance for that because of how big of an upgrade the A11 Bionic is to the A10 Fusion, and how the X was such a special phone, but since Apple dropped the iPhone 6 one year earlier we will have to see how long they can keep up the pattern, as they are back in but that could still change. And because the 6 was dropped earlier, the 6s was not expected to get iOS 15, but since it did, it is the first to receive 2 more major updates compared to its predecessor. So at this point it is not even sure if the iPhone 7 will get iOS 16, as they could pull another iOS 12 and drop two generations.

There is your wall of text.

I doubt that 6s will get the iOS 15 update. Usually iPhones get 5 years of updates, which ended at iOS 14 for 6s.
It's good if it gets the update, I will get the battery replaced in mine then :p
