Snapdragon 898-powered vivo pops-up on GeekBench

Qualcomm's next flagship chip is already in testing, though with lower clock speeds.

[deleted post]What are you jibbering on about?!?!?!

Apple chips are manufactured by TSMC yes, just like Qualcomm chips for that matter. Manufactured being the operative term here, as both design their own chips.

And in terms of bench marks, they each win in different categories with Apple SOC’s traditionally holding a definitive edge in cpu performance.

It looks like a Snapdragon powered Vivo V21, I don't see how a SD 895/898 would score lower than SD 855 ,of course we're still far from Qualcomm's announcement and the software could need optimizations, can Geekbench detect ARMv9 yet? because it also says ARMv8 here.

Both of them like Apple A14 and Snapdragon 888 are very fast, there's no need to argue about it.

Finally ARMv9 in the real world!

[deleted post]A14 blows the S888+ and E2100, and 898 out off water.
We are apple. We use the ultimate CPU, that is does not need that power torque, but Android needs A14

[deleted post]No throttling on my 12 pro 512gb on its first firmware, but throttling on new updates.

Just like my s21ultra 16gb ram, with February firmware, no throttling, but after March till July ipdate, throttling. I've rooted the s21ultra with custom kernel and rom.

But I do not care about CPU.
Even a 662 is enough for me.

Geeks need to stop demanding cellphone chips with same power of core i9 gen 11.
                All this because of games.

Meanwhile apple will top geekbench and Android fanbois will be salty for another year. (Idk how many years has it been since an android had highest score on geekbench) sad but funny how they keep getting hyped over second grade processors which don’t even surpass last gen Apple chips.

There seems to be some inconsistency, unless Geekbench wasn't updated to identify armv9 yet: the article leads on to the Snapdragno 898 which should sport armv9 whereas the screenshot clearly shows an armv8.

On Samsung phones, for instance, you can set these things for processor, display and such individually for games and other things wasting a lot of power even if they might not need it. It's not quite PC level of control, but we're getting there.
Doing what you suggest, stopping the performance, has extremely disruptive effects for companies in the long run. Intel sticking to dual-cores for a whole decade, because they had no competition, eventually meant they almost lost everything to AMD when that company realized how monumentally messed up that tech strategy was.

Instead of only power make it save battery as much as possible. They are so overkill that you can run windows on it with no problem at all and do basic tasks. I think no one wants to use their phone as a pc and would choose 10 hour SOT every day with heavy usage instead of 20% improvement in perfomance no one needs.

It would be great if the generational improvements from die shrinks be allocated to improve battery life instead of going all out on power. The 'power level' of today's smartphones are already quite excessive IMO, midrangers aren't slow anymore, even ye olde 845 still has that bit of oomph for the majority of stuff people does in their smartphones.

CMIIW, but qualcomm already did great with the 865 that has a perfect balance of improvements between both power and longevity compared to the 855, even if they're both manufactured on a similar process.

We'd love to see some sort of power consumption figures and efficiency shootouts as well too.
