Macaulay Culkin, 07 Sep 2021I'm seeing these tri-fold concepts and even the rollab... moreNever got the point of Z Fold 3. Apart from s pen it was born dead.

Mate X2 is way better as a phone (regular aspect ratio, way thinner, high end cameras)
And as a tablet (no crease, 8inch screen which is the minimum of tablet size, any smaller and it just a phablet)

Heck even the Mix fold is better: Worse as a phone, but way better as a tab, i.e. 8inch 4:3 inch screen (wide support of apps), 5000 mAh, 67w charging, it's 16gb ram version is cheaper than the cheap Z Fold 3

Literally, only the s pen support makes sense on it. Else it is handily beaten by older foldables. Do agree that the market is new though. None of the current selections are truly good.

I expect two main version. Thin one, more stylish can be used as a phone primarily, i.e. a 2-fold. Thick Pro one, its tablet use is more important, i.e. the 3-fold design. Since I rarely care about using a phone as a phone anymore, I will await for 3-folds. 2-folds create too small of a screen to make a difference to me and don't care about style (I can always have a mini phone for that)...

I haven’t said anything about durability issues with foldable, but if you ask for me biggest problem with foldables are that they fold and unfold. One extra step to use device. I see zero reason to buy one, then add the crease and just worse hardware parts that i would get from flagship phone, what’s the point buying foldable? There’s still so many flaws with them to make any point buying one.

And no foldables are not out of reach for me, very far. I’m buying 13 pro and Apple Watch 7 this month and they cost amount same than fold 3.

Trix may or may not have the means to purchase a foldable, who’s to say, only they know for sure. And at the end of the day, what the hell has it got to do with you in the first place anon? You hoping to sell this person a foldable or something?

You are the one questioning durability even though the phone during usage has been curable enough. Your hatred points towards one and only one thing, that you are envious of something that is out of your reach

-Trix-, 12 Sep 2021” All the foldables have their own pages where you can waf... moreYeah I agree, they are very niche after all. But who knows, maybe this anon can start a conversation over there. I know it would be a more worthwhile effort to do so on a thread specifically talking about foldables .

As there is 0% chance Apple are going to unveil any folding device this Tuesday, it’s kind of pointless for these people to keep trying to steer this particular conversation towards them.

But the thing is no-one cares foldables, that’s why they keep bringing them up in every Apple article. Just go and see flip 3 or fold 3 page, both have 7% interest. It’s very very low interest number for new device, especially coming from Samsung

But I’ll keep my scepticism of foldables if that’s what you mean, after all I vote with my own wallet, not theirs. I can’t bring myself to ‘hate’ an electronic gadget or the company that makes them though. I’ll leave that kind of over dramatic nonsense to the plethora of others that drone on and on here.

But anyway, how about giving it a rest on foldables now eh?, that’s hardly the topic of this thread now is it. All the foldables have their own pages where you can waffle away to your hears content.

Meanwhile Youtubers who used the Z Fold 2 for nine plus months, none of them had problems with durability except Micheal fisher whose foldable Samsung fixed it for free under their accidental damage program which is as cheap as 50$/month.
But go ahead, Keep hating on foldables!!

I mean does being rich enough that you can blow money on compromised, fragile products just to show off sound sensible to you. Think about it 🤷‍♂️

Any way enough with the Fold already, you and I are never going to see eye to eye on this. You just seem drawn to some wacky wow factor, money be damned. Whilst I am looking for actual real world usability over a sustained period of time to justify to the monetary investment I put in.

To me personally that’s the iPhone, and definitely not a Foldable (not yet anyway). I’m not asking that you agree, I honestly just don’t care.

Oh and the guidance that comes with the Fold series says nothing about being wary of fingernails being long enough to be considered ‘Dracula’ length, it just says fingernails!

This is for people who simply don't worry, if their 2000$ phone gets damaged easily or not, but they want the wow factor associated with bleeding edge technology like foldable. It's in the ultra premium category for a reason. Just because you have 2000$, doesn't mean you are in the ultra premium category of buyers.

That's the difference between someone who can afford a foldable vs someone who actually buys it.

As for the camera developments apple have made, please list some of them... As far as I remember iPhones don't even have a periscope camera, yet you are texting non sense about them being ahead in that regard. Last time I checked a source about the best camera phone, the spots were taken by Huawei and Xiaomi -Which I'm not a fan of- but credit where is due. If buying an apple device makes you happy, then go for it. Again, believing is iPhones are ahead on something is delusional.

A Galaxy fold 2 256gb in my country cost £1799 on launch a year ago, today it’s worth £400. An iPhone 11 Pro 256gb cost £1099 the better part of two years ago, and is today worth £450!

So not would you be paying top ££££ for a device your own finger nail is apparently a major threat too, but its practically worthless the moment you do. Not a sound investment in my mind.

The Fold series has its fans sure, good luck to them I say, they’ll likely need it…….

Maybe it's just not worth of money because it's still beta product? and even if it wouldn't is the value worth of asking price? I mean i have $4000 TV but i would never buy phone which cost $1800 ni matter who does it, because i just don't see any value. I wouldn't even buy foldable costing $500
