Don't care about updates, Xiaomi has already established themselves as a force to reckon with. They are killing it since the past two years.
I'd happily buy their phones irrespective of "X" years of update support

If it was so irrelevant they'd also do it quarterly. That's just lazy Xiaomi... And I thought they mean business and I missed this part where they say it's quarterly. That's just rubbish.

EU is looking into rules so phone makers have to release security updates for 5 years, Germany wants to extend it to 7 years. Hopefully it'll go through.

Stop Fanboying and be glad that more & more phone companies are supporting their devices for longer and don't throw them into a bin (EOL), when the next model arrives to the markets...

It's unfortunate about the ads situation in India (Samsung is also pushing ads in India) but for most countries ads is not a problem. I am in Malaysia and never encountered ads in my Mi 9T.

Can your xiaomi with the same price do the same? I dont think so :)
