-Trix-, 10 Sep 2021"Yes apple is overpriced for what you get its just a r... moreI'm an Android fan and yet, my next phone will be an iPhone.

My device is running with Android One, I chose it hoping for a long-term support beyond 3 years due to tremble that was introduced at that time. I was so wrong, received only 2 years of upgrades and 2 years and 11 months of security updates and most likely an unstable system with the last update (freezes and crashes despite factory resets).

I thought about buying a Pixel but then realised that 1) not officially imported in my country while being in Western Europe 2) will only receive max 3 years of security updates if bought on day one.

Five other criteria that are pushing me towards an iPhone, I don't want a Chinese brand smartphone (too many warnings from national security agencies about the privacy and stories of data going to Chinese servers), a minimum of 64 GB storage, biometrics, IP67 or higher and the size of the smartphone. My pocket doesn't grow with time, I arbitrary set a max height of 150 mm like my actual smartphone (and to not have to change again the support in my car or on my motorbike)

With all those criteria, I only get 5 returns, 4 iPhones and 1 Pixel (the latter is overpriced for its time left and not even sure to be able to have it repaired if something brake while I know that with Apple, there will be spare parts for 7 years)

-Trix-, 11 Sep 2021Most Android phones no matter if they are low/mid/high end ... moreYou're talking about feature updates. If you care so much about features why would you be on iOS that limits you to only webkit browsers with no ability to sideload anything else? There's an entire 3rd party app store dedicated to FOSS apps called F-Droid with privacy focussed versions of popular apps/services.

Like you only just got widgets recently something that's existed on android since forever and android widgets have always been polished for a very long time. If feature updates matter to you, so do features unless there's something specific you have that's on iOS. Security updates is something everybody needs almost equally and you get 4 on android easily for like 2 years now. ofcourse not all phones get 4 but we should be comparing the best of Android to the iPhone.

People nowdays use average 3-4 years for their phones. Phones are so good nowdays that people want to keep them longer and longer. Let’s not forget that majority of phone buyers are just regular people who have no idea what you just said in your comment. Also Android users main reason to switch to iPhone is longer software support. There was just study where it got 51% of votes to switch iPhone.

All my friends own sub-200$ phones with 120hz displays with HDR or OLED.

                Fast charging also exists.

"Crippled software"? If that's what makes you sleep at night, sure go ahead. Keep justifying your purchase.

-Trix-, 10 Sep 2021"Yes apple is overpriced for what you get its just a r... moreWhy do iPhone users always compare budget android phones with the iPhone? Only shitty budget phones have 2 years of updates. Even my budget redmi phone released 4 years ago got 3 years of updates. The best midrangers and flagships have 4 years of support for a while now. Apple is a lifestyle brand, their phones selling more isn't indicative of quality.

Most people only use their phones for 2-3 years. Android phones have no ugly notches/have all screen displays, higher refresh rate displays, better cameras, faster charging, better battery life despite higher refresh rate and even more. Having better battery life is more important for having a phone last long as apps get more demanding and we use our phones more. The design is also objectively bad with those thick bezels and ugly notch.

I don’t know where you sell them, but clearly doesn’t reflect what’s happening worldwide

” The iPhone 12 series’ cumulative global sales crossed the 100 million units mark in April 2021, according to Counterpoint Research’s mobile handset Market Pulse Service. The series was able to achieve this feat in the seventh month after its launch, which is two months earlier than the iPhone 11 series and almost the same as the iPhone 6 series that helped Apple achieve its first volume super-cycle at the cusp of 4G transition. With the iPhone 12 series, Apple has achieved another volume super-cycle after six generations of iPhones and at the cusp of 5G transition.”

IPhone 12 series is best selling iPhone since iPhone 6 supercycle and sales for this year going to best iPhone sales ever or second best

” The iPhone 12 lineup has hit a major milestone less than a year after its introduction: sales of over 100 million units. According to a new report from Counterpoint Research, iPhone 12 sales crossed the 100 million unit mark in April 2021, two months earlier than the iPhone 11 and nearly in line with the iPhone 6”

You think and... moreI currently work for a major phone retailer and historically, I've worked for Vodafone, Three and O2 over the last decade and I can tell you first hand that the vast, vast majority of iPhone users ARE essentially tech illiterate. As soon as you get down to the nitty-gritty of talking processors, aperture sizes, refresh rates and charging speeds, the vast majority of Apple users don't care, don't want to care and are happy to essentially buy the same phone.

I don't think they're terrible phones - but to pretend like even a moderate percentage of iPhone users are these informed, technologically educated, spec-chasers is just a downright lie. People buy them because they're easy to use, because they've been using them for a long time, they like the ecosystem and they're a status symbol; not because they offer the most bang for your buck or anything of the sort.

[deleted post]Alot of those weren’t bought because the user is Android obsessed, it’s likely that they were just cheap and available. Those people couldn’t give a dam what’s running on it.

I mean sure, they have 120hz, but ios is more optimized than the android because of quicker performance on any apps to manage it!

Yes, most people don't care about updates BUT they don't know about 120 htz screens, the fast charging wattage or what they can or cannot do with their phone. Heck they get fooled by throwaway macro lenses too. You are NOT a spokesperson for android. Your "thirteen hundred million happy consumers"? As for the display, 120hz LTPO display is more likely, every components are made by Samsung or LG, which enables a 120hz LTPO Displays for the iphone 13 pros!

                                        I don't see a problem with that!
