Burn in is still BIG problem with all AMOLED, being:
S, PLUS HD...FULLHD, and also lack of brightness.
So for heavy user all AMOLED family is a no go...others rejoice ;)
We still have IPS based screens (positioned better by all professionals).

Anonymous, 16 Nov 20121080p means it will need faster cpu, bigger batteries, and ... moreFaster CPU? It's not CPU but GPU. CPU has nothing to do with screen resolution. However, I doubt that the screen will be better than the SLCD3. Since the SAMOLED HD isn't better than the HD SLCD2. But, we'll see

1080p means it will need faster cpu, bigger batteries, and bigger storage for 1080p videos. All unnecessary because your eyes can't see the difference anything above 300ppi.

why o why they put 1080p ? I mean who needs it ? it's pure nonsense. it seems that i'll have to look in the middle-range phones next year, because 5 inches are just too much.

ron, 16 Nov 2012Not impressive, I'm waiting for a 4K screens with 882ppi.well a 1080p screen got a resolution of 2073600 pixels. a 4k screen got a resolution of 3840x2160. this means 4 times 1080p and an 8294400 pixels display. so a 4,99" screen with 4k (3840x2160) sould have 1764ppi and not "only" 882ppi.

They wud try 2 cram all that screen estate n Full HD res in as compact a body as they physically can n they also ABSOLUTELY NEED 2 cram a large enuf (3000 mAh+) battery or else such a fone wud b a real joke! This nonsensical screen size trend is bcoming soo boring! Wat nxt? 6.5'' "PHONES" wth 4k resolution???

The first thing samsung needs to do is concertrate on burn-in. As this is a big problem for amoled screens.

Their phones are aimed at a specific market of one handed users, and people who prefer smaller phones. 4.3" with 720p at that size would be perfect.

Apple are going to be seriously up against it next year, they are going to have to do something radical with the next iPhone to compete with the next wave of 1080p 5" Android phones

If this is in the Galaxy S4, then it's blurring the line between it and the note.
Probably the reason it is making a 5" screen is so that people will actually notice the difference at 1080p, when a smaller screen they wouldn't.
It's the Megapixel/Multi Core race all over again.
Bigger screens, higher resolution, higher ppi.
The problem is that now people will be turned away from these larger phones and want something smaller, where there is nothing out there with the same specs.
So the Consumers will swallow the hype, and buy a bigger, more expensive device.

Use same cheap plastic body.
Use basically the same design.
Introduce a new skin.
Increase screen resolution.
Charge the new flagship around the same price as iPhone.
Called the iPhone overpriced and whoever bought it as iSheep.
Same story.

If only they could spend as much on R&D into slim batteries that could last several days on average useage. Id find that of much more use than FHD on a 5" screen.

Anonymous, 16 Nov 2012That is just stupid. Apple don't come out with a new phone.... moreYeah, it's exactly the same phone.
That's the sort of thinking we get from dumb Fandroids these days.

NK, 16 Nov 2012galaxy s --> 4" galaxy s2--> 4.3" galaxy ... moreThat what bothers me, smartphones getting bigger and bigger to the tablet area it's ridiculous. even S2 at 4.3" was big phone for pockets. If people want phablet they can get galaxy note/2. So no point in releasing phone bigger than S2 size especially it can be connected to bigger TV/screen for movies and games.

S, 16 Nov 2012maybe next trend, just wait! Like QVGA to HVGA to WVGA to ... moreAll the companies seem 2 be involved in this insane race of bigger screen sizes wth more resolution without concentrating on the most vital aspects of the fone like battery life, software optimizations and other such crucial features! I wud mch prefer a 4-4.5'' fone which runs at least a couple days on moderate to heavy use n i think so will most other ppl!
