The rest have a ... moreplease don't always look at gsmarena if xiaomi hasn't got android 11 because gsmarena hasn't updated it yet. most xiaomi phones with miui 12.5 already get android 11. some cheap xiaomi phone you mentioned like redmi note 8 pro, poco x3 and mi a3 is already on android 11.

But I had weird issue with battery where S2 would drain it whole in couple of hours. Be it stock TouchWiz or this custom ROM with Android 11. Not really sure why. I even bought brand new replacemen battery and it behaved the same. So yeah, someone surely will try Android 12 on S2...

        Upgrade for upgrade sake...

        Adding pointless features or changes not many really need or ask for, and as often as they are being pushed. Things do get to a stage that a majority are happy with, and most that's needed is a tweak here or there, bug-fixes and optimisations to make things smooth and stable, with security updates as and when needed, and everyone's a winner. But the need to be relevant, in the limelight and to increase that number by 1 is too strong, sadly.

I am saying so because my Mi 9T is already on MIUI 12.1.4 with Android 11 but GSMarena still listing the Mi 9T with MIUI 12 Android 10. There is a big chance latestvOS version for other models are not accurate as well.

The rest have a lot of models from various lineups to deal with. Samsung, Xiaomi, and HMD Nokia is a good example. Speaking of Xiaomi, I don't see a lot of 2020 or older models that receive a stable Android 11 OS update*.

                It's quite late for Google to release a new version of Android this year. Usually, it's always somewhere between the end of August and the start of September.

Have there ... moreRoot is not a feature of Android per se, but instead either (1) a security configuration in your build (i.e., it's trivial to get root in any AOSP build you make), (2) the exploitation of an existing security vulnerability that allows escalating privileges to root even when unintended (i.e., the manufacturer didn't want that), or (3) something in the middle like patching the boot image and installing the Magisk overlays thanks to a device with an unlocked bootloader.

                    (1) and (3) are generally good for the informed users that know the security tradeoffs, but (2) is quite bad for the general population (e.g., they can be exploited by all sorts of adversaries).

                      Surely that would mean Google would bring forward the pixel 6 release date ??? So you'll have the latest Android OS on pixel, 3 generations older than the 6

                        When will the useful Root feature be available? Have there been some on recent android lately?
