It was introduced with the Series 4 Apple Watch and is a critical part of how the new Apple Watch Series 5 is able to offer an always-on display experience without completely killing the battery life."

Which means that the most money goes to JDI and JDI is the only one that can sell the manufacturing license.

Macaulay Culkin, 14 Sep 2021Here's a major knock on the Tensor chip if you happen ... moreI don't think the Tensor design has been announced, it is also rumored that it will use 2 * X1, 2 * A78, 4 * A55, so it would be equivalent to at least 870, but we do not know what the actual design is.

Mikifor, 15 Sep 2021Anyone has specs on sensors? Main is about 1/1.9"? ... moreUltra wide angle camera sensor: not known, but I guess it is 12mm² (15mm² + f/1.8 might lead to more light than Apple is advertising, unless the new lens has even more vignetting)
                  Wide angle camera sensor: 43-44mm²
Tele camera sensor: not known, but the 12 Pro Max tele had an effective aperture diameter of 3.41mm, so it wouldn't be surprising, if the effective aperture diameter of the 13 Pro tele camera will be at least 3.41mm, in this case the sensor would be at least 13.8mm² large.

[deleted post]Don't use sensor type names. For example the diagonal of a 1/2" type is not twice as large as the diagonal of a 1/4" type sensor. 1/2", 1/3", etc are just names. The diagonal is not completely proportional to the name.

                    Use mm².

And by the way, sensor size tells you nothing about the amount of light per time as this depends on the lens. I am surprised that so many users are obsessed with sensor size. A common misunderstanding.

They don't use it for anything other than bragging points. Everyone was going on and on about 120hz (which we first saw from Apple tablets), but now I'm already seeing talk about 144hz. I guess 120hz is an obsolete turtle now.
