In my country Turkey, banking apps are (at least tier1&2 banks) pretty reliable and never saw any failures. Once a banking app is installed and NFC is enabled, rest of the experience is seamless. just unlock the phone and put it on any point of sale device. that's it! even no need to keep the app running in the background. unfortunately, apple is blocking NFC chip from 3rd party apps like banking apps. so,iphone's NFC is useless without apple pay.

none of google, apple or samsung pay is avaliable in Turkey :) they all missed the train here. looks like apple pay is the better option in Mexico. garmin pay is also avaliable in Mexico. it works with both apple and google OS smartphones, if you have a garmin smartwatch.

Anonymous, 20 Sep 2021Just a way to give more data to a foreign company And less to a domestic one. Technically, it's better to give data to some foreign country than your own. Much less likely abuse and censorship, especially if you live in a country with terrible privacy laws and regular human rights violations.

yalim, 20 Sep 2021what's the purpose of google, samsung or apple pay? th... moreMy take is that using Google Pay (or Apple Pay, for that matter) the experience should be equal and standard where ever the platform (G or Apple, respectively) works. This is, as opposed to banks that implement things however they want and most of the time their apps just don't work in a myriad of ways and reasons. That's the experience with Mexican banks. We have now Apple Pay in this country and being deployed nationally and working with many banks & cards, all with the same user's experience on any Point of Sale... same experience for the users of that platform.
Google, on the other hand is missing the train, again and again and it's nowhere to be seen.

Frantically scrolling down to the new countries list getting Google Pay, just to find right in the "M" a Missing Mexico, again. This, while the other fruity platform (which I don't like) is doing great business over here deploying their smartphone payments system so over the country with great success. When Google? When?

Why the F**K TD bank in Canada doesn't work with Google pay.
It works perfectly fine with apple pay. I am very close to switching institutions.

yalim, 20 Sep 2021what's the purpose of google, samsung or apple pay? th... moreMost people would use e-wallet apps rather than using the card or the banking app itself. In my country, for instance, there is no banking app that can do payments using the phone. That is why there is a collaboration between Samsung Malaysia and an e-wallet company called Boost where you can use Boost inside Samsung Pay-supported smartphones, be it with NFC only like current models or with MST capabilities like the A8 (2018) or A8+ (2018) and previous year flagships like the S20 series and the S10 series.

Hang on a minute, CIMB is a Malaysian-based bank company and yet the Singaporeans got it? Really?

Then in a sports store, they have Google Pay but i also pay for it the same way lol.

what's the purpose of google, samsung or apple pay? the banking mobile apps already provide native NFC payment (using phone's NFC) linked to their credit cards. some banks even begin 3rd party credit card support, too. that's why, I see no reason to use those pay systems. please enlighten me if I miss something.
