The chip shortage for automotive industry is likely to worsen until late 2023, since all the foundries are busy with huge volume orders. Automotive chips do not have a industry standard, & hence result in low volume orders.

Maybe we will change our behavior and only buy what we really need if what we want isn't available? Why should we buy a new computer and a new car every 3 years, especially if it is 30% more expensive now?

But I agree to the other guy's comment of reducing the number of products with iterative upgrades just to mint money, idk what they do with so much money, take it with them to

Not the fan of the cryptocurrencies myself, but those are different kind of chips and it won't solve the problem.
Crypto is mined on some dedicated ASIC's that are popular but it's only a fraction of the chip production and the GPUs - which are produced in different lithography than house/automotive electronics and mostly impacts pc gamers.

it's a fake shortage. some companies made a deal together to reduce output and pump the prices. this should be DEEPLY investigated.

tbh, i never had any hope that its going to get better this year, gonna wait for 2024 to build my first pc at the age of 29 :/
