Android 12 "monet" color theming may be adopted by other OEMs

23 September 2021
Android 12's theming pulls accent colors form the wallpaper, and Google Pixels may not be the only ones able to do that.

"It's not the phone because white background adverts are unaffected": Well maybe Google just hasn't applied Material You to their advertising products yet. They follow the "You (are) Material (to make profit from)" theme very consistently though.

"OEMs are going to have to adopt at least some of it because Google are plastering all over their apps": it's not unlikely that you're right. Another possibly is for OEMs to use this as a "soft" measure to make (some of) Google's apps look more out of place compared to their own who blend in with their UI (talking about OEMs that do have competitor apps). For example Samsung could use it to push you towards using Samsung Internet Browser, which they would like you to do.
On a side note, why are you using Chrome in the first place? Have you considered better alternatives such as Vivaldi or Firefox?

Im pretty sure this is the ugliest android version.

I dont get why they should change almost all designs every 1 or 2 versions... If something works don't touch it! What isnt working on 'old' versions?

At least my old phones will not get android 12 updates UwUr for the first time im glad about having and 'old' phone

[deleted post]Your disposition is wanting. How did that even come out of your skull? Fanboyism is a disease, and unless you understand what value for money means, you'll be stuck in the thick of it.

Anonymous, 23 Sep 2021Please no, I don't even run vanilla android but I have... moreThere should be options to disable the functionality. This is Android aka customization. That's why it's called Material You.

oh pls no...Material You looks like a childish dumpster fire. it's atrociously ugly, looking like it's been bathe in bleach under the sun with all those stupid pastel colors.

the whole UI looks like it was built for the dumbest people with over sized buttons and lots of wasted spaces

I'm glad One UI 4.0 is not following the general design language of Material You and I hope other OEMs do the same

Anonymous, 23 Sep 2021Please no, I don't even run vanilla android but I have... moreYou do know this isn't true right? You can actually change the color scheme irrespective of the wallpaper?

Well for me it's a very lovable addition, for the whole UI to be in sync with and almost uniform.

If you don't like, just change the color scheme manually and stop the misinformation

I think you can use google translate to know what it's meaning if you not sure

                      About the post,
Despite the dynamic color of wallpaper, can we select color manually with this theme engine?

I kinda think that they might combine it with metro design that previously used in windowsphone.... .What a N***a phone XD

For some reason those updates have resulted in all the white areas in Chrome picking up a yellowish tint on my Zenfone 8 that I'm finding incredibly annoying right now. As I have everything in dark mode it's only Chrome that annoys, it's improved One because that was blindingly white having never got a dark mode.
It's not the phone because white background adverts are unaffected...

I tried an android 12 custom rom on my old phone. I absolutely love monet on it. The whole operating system feel so much polished even if it was a beta release. I hope OEMs won't ruin the whole experience and polish. I have never enjoyed stock android and i mainly did not like the color schemes. But android 12 is on another level.

                                > With Android 12, the most significant UI change is arriving to the OS since Material Design was introduced with Android 5.0 Marshmallow.

I believe it's a typo, Android 5 is Lollipop, not Marshmallow. Android 6 is marshmallow

I don't want the UI to change just because my wallpaper is a certain colour. I also don't want my quick settings limited to four (ugly) icons with a single swipe. I'm really enjoying OxygenOS/ColorOS on my Nord 2. I can choose whatever accent colour I want without having the decision being made for me.
