HRR screen isn't that important to me since I seldom do mobile gaming. I only do mobile gaming for like three times a week. If anything, I deeply value the still-relevant headphone jack and microSD card slot more than HRR screen. But it must be said that Samsung's LTPO 120Hz screen is a brilliant idea. For a phone like the S21 Ultra 5G to score crazy battery endurance rating despite the QHD+ resolution and a large 20:9 6.8" screen really does show how forward-thinking Samsung can be.

Anonymous, 26 Sep 2021120 hz is fine. 90hz is unreasonable and 60 hz... shouldn&#... moreI don't see why 90 hz is unreasonable so could you explain me why? I personally believe 120 hz are over rated because it drains a lot of battery if it's not an adaptive panel and because it does not make a big difference so I would much rather those 5-10$ for those 30 more hz would be spent for more storage or a better ultra wide which most midranger need (instead of 8mp, 13mp). Honestly 60hz are good enough for most people unless you are motion sensitive.

I bought a Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra and got a 120Hz screen. It looked great the first time I turned it on, but it took maybe 15 minutes before I was used to it and didn't notice it anymore. After that first wow-factor, there really isn't any advantage to 120Hz on a phone. No media supports it (in fact, most movies/shows are in 30Hz), few games support it.. and who needs 120Hz to surf the web?

When I went back to 60Hz it looked bad for a while, but again, after 15 minutes I was used to it. With 60Hz I get maybe 1 hour longer battery life while playing Pokemon Go. The choice is very simple for me at least.

Screen refresh rates are another one of those examples where phone makers just keep adding to the numbers to make people buy new stuff (remember the megapixel war a few years back?). It has absolutely no value in real life.

I'd rather have a smaller battery or better battery life.

Anonymous, 26 Sep 2021It's just a phone, not a monitor. 60 is just fine and ... moreI definitely can attest to that. At one point, using 120Hz all the time have lost me six hours of overall battery usage. That is why I use 60Hz all the time except during gaming.

I do use HRR during gaming since it really does show a clear night-and-day difference, especially for quick-pacing FPS and motor racing games. But other than that, it's not that important for me. I never care about having a smoother scrolling effect. If anything, it only uses more battery juice. That is why when I don't do any gaming, I switch the refresh rate back to 60Hz.

All high refresh rate screen smartphones always have the option to lock it down to 60Hz, and it does save battery life. And no, there is still a noticeable difference between 90Hz and 120Hz because that's still a 30Hz difference after all.
Phones nowadays are now being used more than ever for many tasks, especially now that there are even some smartphone SoCs that are almost on par with desktop CPUs (best Apple A15 variant is almost as strong in single core perf as a Ryzen 9 5950x).
Smoother screen is still highly appreciated regardless of the screen size. After all, we are now getting larger and larger phone screens every year, so it gets even more sensible to have higher refresh rates.
I will agree on the resolution part, but refresh rate is really something that even the oldies will notice and appreciate.

90 hz is fine. 120hz is unreasonable and 60 hz... Are fine but 90hz are smoother

Government should mandate 120hz LTPO for all electronic devices

Failing at which should result in billions if fines.

Anonymous, 26 Sep 2021Lifetime imprisonment for those who voted for 60Hz It's just a phone, not a monitor. 60 is just fine and better for battery. So for phones it's not that important really.

And just like high dpi displays, most of you couldn't spot above 90hz without being told.
Another case of useless over-specing a piece of

Its a 150mm display on a poxy phone, not a 40 inch medical monitor.

Battery consumption between 720p vs 1080p is negligible. But battery uses increased significantly from 60Hertz to 90Hertz. That's why i am not interested in higher refresh rate.

When i'm looking at my phone screen, it's usually typing, reading something or watching something and refresh rates don't really matter in those situations. Its it's a very nice feature to have if you game but for swiping and transitions? Yeah i can live without it.

Both my galaxy fold 3 and tab s7 plus have 120hz screens and I'll never go back to 60hz.

Headphone jack and expandable storage are obviously the two most important components missing in most phones today, add a pop-up front camera and now you might have an interesting phone.

I don't care about higher Hz at all, perhaps 90Hz is more than enlugh...

If the phone does not have stereo speakers at least, so I can watch the content with good sound while appreciating the high refresh on a game for example, 60hz is enough.
