Apple iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max aren't rendering all apps in 120Hz

25 September 2021
Apple has confirmed that the bug would be addressed in a future firmware update.

But then again, very few apps have 120Hz or higher refresh rate support in the first place. I only see a lot with mobile gaming apps.

Fyugstar, 25 Sep 2021Yes it is an innovation LolSo what is LTPO 120hz screen? Alien technology? Hahahaha

Does the "Apple was waiting for the technology to mature" crowd not get tired of this nonsense?

It's like limiting hardware by software, maybe maybe not idk

PeterThePanda, 25 Sep 2021Let's hope so, and they should address that ASAP. Othe... moreI'm inclined to think this is just related to the bug since they have been successfully implementing VRR panels on iPad Pro for years.

PeterThePanda, 25 Sep 2021Then how about the system animations? The video clearly sho... moreBoth phones use a VRR panel hence refresh rate changes during scrolling, meaning it is impossible to deduce at which exact refresh rate they are running at without an on-screen fps counter (Hence his "simple math" for S21 Ultra was also off - it should be capped at 120Hz but his calculated number shows 144Hz).

It might be simply that iPhone lumps up refresh rate less aggressively than Galaxy and takes more time to reach 120Hz from 10Hz, or due to whatever the "bug" Apple has already confirmed to exist in the OS. Just wait until they push out the update and see how it goes.

I wonder if the touch-sampling-rate of these iPhone 13 Pro line-up is now doubled from 120hz to 240hz since they both have 120hz display refresh rate... It could be higher like on most newest Android phones, this year 2021, which have 360hz upto 720hz touch sampling rate.

Perhaps they're all just holding it wrong

No surprise iphone 13 pro max score outstanding battery life in latest arun (mrwhosetheboss) video on YouTube. They run on lower refresh rate lol. Promotion they said lol

"PRO” unable to perform PROmotion but did enough promotion to bring trillion $

The video clearly shows even the system animations are not running at the advertised 120hz, more like at 80 or 90hz only. Pretty sure it has nothing to do with App developers since it's the system UI itself.

But sure, it just works. Lol.

you paid so much and this small problem cant solved by apple.

Apple should explain this then lol:

System animations are not running on the 13 Pro series at the advertised 120hz.

                                    "It just works"

Lol. It just works but Apple decided to cripple the device because battery life sucks.
