True Tech Opinions, 02 Oct 2021Skype is such a good app but they can't fix it, it lag... moreskype is a terrible app, along with all Microsoft communication suite (skype, lync, teams, skype for business ...because they need so many for one simple task). They are always excessively complex but lack or fail at most basic tasks such as sending and receiving text messages properly. Multi-device handling in these apps is a disaster. Either you get notifications on all your devices when you chat with someone on one of them, or, they arrive minutes or even hours later on some of the devices. With some of these apps if you type a dozen lines of text you cannot send the message because it is too big (lol), on others you might not find easily the list of contacts. T.E.R.R.I.B.L.E.
On the other hand, if you needed your chat app to have integration with international space station toilet monitor, Microsoft has you covered.

Ever since Microsoft cooperated with CCP to make a fake spyware version of skype in China, called Tom-skype, it has been on my blacklist. No way - never on any of my devices.

I honestly really like it now, I find it looks great. But, it still performs worse than others so this is a welcome update.
It has lots of features and I love that we don't need a phone number to use it like the other apps.
I mainly use Viber now. I use WhatsApp for those who don't use Viber. But, I would love to only use Skype. If only more would use it and would understand its benefits. I have MS 365 so I get 60 minutes of international calling for free per month (another benefit) with Skype. Lots of benefits to using Skype.

Nothing worse than giving out all your details with Facebook and than finding out that the other person doesn't take no for an answer.

With WhatsApp you give out your phone number so that can be risky. The other things like Google Duo, etc are tied to your real identity so not good either.
So if you want to have a dating videocall without compromising your privacy Skype is a good option.

Microsoft fumbled the bag so hard with Skype. Whoever ran management was shit at it, so what if the shares went up when they had the opportunity to dominate the market. Now Discord and Zoom are at the top while they can't get a properly functioning service.
They had the long-term game in their hands and they threw it. I hope they fail at every other thing they try to do again. Stick to windows and MS office

One of (if not) the worst performing messaging and video chatting applications that has ever been available. Stutters, crashes, freezes and is such a resource hog, and that's on a good day, and on any operating system. Scrapping it and starting from scratch would be the best thing for it, or scrapping it and forgetting the whole thing would probably be even better. Some things are just not worth the time and resources, especially when there are so many other, better and more advanced alternatives...
