Weekly poll: did you put a screen protector on your phone? What about a case?

03 October 2021
Screen replacements can be rather pricey. Also, dropping your phone can break its camera too.

I'm using tempered glass + spigen tough armor. One time i accidentally dropped my phone from bathroom towel rack about 2 meter high (±6 feet), no crack screen at all and phone still works normal. Hope that was the last time i dropped my phone from that high.

Curved screen since Samsung made S6 is the worst phone innovation ever made. Notch is the second. Case and screen protector is a must have for anyone who care for their devices and fear of random accidents.

Book case which can work as a wallent is a must for me. And screen protector too just in case.
GG3, 4, 5, or Victus doesnt matter all use screen protector in case of random damage.
And screen protector is much more cheaper than Victus glass. So the Gorilla Glass screen is just an expensive gimmick.
Same for IPXX resistance where a much cheaper case does same tricks for much less money.

I didnt use screen protector on my galaxy s8, I had a silicone case on it, i dropped it from pocket height, screen shattered and became unusable, lesson learned, my current phone has both case and screen protector

Kangal, 03 Oct 2021I appreciate you both, thanks for attempting to read, and t... moreYep. That's good money for companies. Bad for consumers tho

I have virtually given up on tempered glass screen protectors since NONE of them fits like they did in years past. I blame this on the fact that even flat screens are NOT FLAT at the edges like they used to be. So the protectors either leave an unprotected edge that is UGLY, or the edges don't stick down properly leaving dust to build up or something catches the edge pulling up the whole thing.
I always use a case. These things just cost too much not to. That is why I always get a black phone. Colored backs are silly. Currently using a thin carbon fiber case on my Xperia 1 iii. I usually use a Spigen rugged armor.

I can never understand folks who treat their phones with no respect as they are highly technical instruments and often fragile devices. Anything you drop on a hard surface no matter how well made it is will likely break especially glass. And well done on your breakdown even if it went over my head 👍✌️

I'd like to use a phone without a case but unfortunately that isn't possible given how fragile they are these days. People do seem to be okay with cases and protectors but that is all unnecessary if the phone is well made in the first place. Drop a phone once and then it becomes an expensive broken mess all over on the floor

I am using my mobile with an ultra premium back case and protective glass. Earlier I was using flip covers but back cases are more convinient to use in comparision to flip covers. I have dropped my phone quite many times..but luckily it is dentfree and unbroken till now..tnx to it's metal chasis. :-)

The point was to not be subjective/opion, but to be objective/factual when we consider the make up of a phone. These are dense fragile devices that go with us everywhere, and they're expensive. I'll try to condense the above two comments into two short paragraphs:

A double-curved glass sandwich phone, that's heavy and slippery, with a weird aspect angle, notch, and no bezels is (objectively speaking) simply a bad design. This is great for OEMs, as it means more money/profits for them in quicker replacements, more accessory sales, and expensive repair bills.

An objectively-speaking good design would be a phone that's something like 17:9 so it's more compact, Slim Bezels to hold easier, Flat front design which accommodates Glass Protectors, Strong chassis made from something like Military-grade Kevlar Resin (for maximum strength at lowest weight) which also makes it non-slippery. Such a phone is great for the consumer, as it means the device will last a long time (so it saves money), and great for the environment too.

If you want me to elaborate on anything, just ask away!

I may avoid the case depending on the material on back but a screen protector is always must

I've always used both screen protector and case on my all phones. But now I use Samsung S6 edge without a screen protector. Dropped many times. No any crack or scratches. I use a thin case which doesn't protect the screen at all.

Plastic Screen protector and a case.

Why? My phone plan is always 2 years, so to maximize the money I get back from my old phone I use both, but I have a work phone without case and screen protector, and even while it has gorilla glass 5, it's still full of scratches even while I am more carefull with my work phone than my own.

Why plastic screen protector? For few years I used glass ones, and they are fine until they are not, and thus I went back to plastic ones.

Guys, what kind of case is the Spigen rugged armour case, and yes I'm dumb, it's probably thick and rugged, isn't it
