03 October 2021
Screen replacements can be rather pricey. Also, dropping your phone can break its camera too.

I use a case, but not for protection. I use it for a better grip, since everyone uses slippery glass on the back. And to still be able to see how nicely it looks I opted in for a transparent case.
I really miss textured plastic of my Note 3...

I buy phones from companies that have equipment that prevents possible damage to the product from falling, scratches and the like. Also, these protective equipment characterize the company as caring and respectful to its customers. I would also like to express a desire for a survey to be conducted on the importance of providing telephones with eye protection from control screen brightness, the so-called PWM. It is known that many users experience significant discomfort and fear the consequences of screen flickering.

UV glass screen protector and customisable metal bumpers with custom paint job and glass back and a bunch of chrome, carbon, light defracting vinyls.
it hides the phone's beauty but still looking unique and fresh.

Case on the phone is like wearing a condom

When the case has a lip around the display, then no screen protector is needed. Even if you lay the phone flat display side down, nothing touches. Avoid putting your phone together with metal objects. Enjoy perfect visuals! 😁

Currently using a Poetic revolution case on my phone. Previously i had Supcase unicorn beetle case for my old phone. Always been a fan of armor cases, makes me feel more "safe" with my phone lmao

A glass protector and bumper case are must for me since phones and repaors are getting more expensive

Modern phones has more and more glass. And don`t matter what kind of glass has your phone - all glass is glass and can be easily broken.
Then we also migrated from cheap IPS to expensive Amoled, added underscreen sensors, ronded screeens, flexible, etc. Screen replacement like as Samsung one costs half price of phone.
So screen protector and case is a must have options.

I never put any protection on my phones. I simply buy phones priced the way I won't feel bad if it breaks.

I don't like to put a screen protector on my phone because I want to feel the phone's naked screen. But my current flagship phone forced me to use one because the Gorilla Glass 6 can easily be dented. With just 3 months of use, my phone has 2 dents and scratches, whereas my previous phone with Gorilla Glass 3 doesn't have any dent or scratch in 2 years of usage.

I always use a Lychee series phone case since I started using a smartphone. But my current phone has a free bumper case and aa

Less worried about screen protector but a slim case is probably essential. Phones seem well able to survive drops onto back and front, but onto the corners always seems to end in cracks...

                                        A – 20% – Price (inc labour)
                                        B – 15% – Availability (production constraints)
                                        C – 15% – Durability (shape-preserving)
                                        D – 15% – Fragility (impact absorption)

                                        F – 10% – Premium Look and Feel (Subjective)
                                        G – 5% – Hardness (Scratch Resistance)
                                        H – 5% – Heat dissipation (For fast camera/processor)
                                        I – 5% – Signal retention*
                                        Total – 100% – All properties based on a 5-star system

And based on what I know, I think the different materials behave in each characteristics in a fashion similar to this below. So I've scored each material based on a 5-star rating on each characteristic and then underneath I have calculated how much points it will receive based on my personal weighing from above (see A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I).

                                        Here is my analysis:
Overall, price was a major factor. So I think its completely fine to use Glossy Plastic or Tempered Glass which are both cheap as a Build Material for phones sold for the US$150 or €100 discount-bin market. Once you increase the price, you get leeway to add better materials. At the low-midrange segment (US$150-US$250 or €100-€200) you should demand something like High-Grade Matte Polycarbonate. Whereas at the high-midrange (US$250-US$450 or €200-€400) you should demand something like Kevlar. The luxury-end (>US$600 or >€500), where almost anything goes, demands exclusively the Top-Shelf Alloys. Of course, this isn’t a perfect world as the industry persuades the dumbmas-ses into accepting cheaper materials by the use of marketing.

*Signal Attenuation is not very important for the material covering the device’s sides and back, as the radio can usually connect through the front glass display fine.
**watch-grade sapphire is technically a glass-like ceramic, and is much much harder than the average ceramic. The average ceramic is identical in properties to good tempered glass. Cheap glass is worse, but not by a large margin.

PS This post required a lot of thinking, number crunching, and careful sprucing to be legible and as objectively accurate as possible. So I appreciate any readers or upvotes : )
