Water damage is never covered whether accidental or not, there's water indicators inside the device - if they turn pink/red, you're out of luck.

Nothing wrong with Apple refurbs. I bought a refurbished iPhone 7 Plus in 2017 and I still have it to this day as my work phone. Not a single problem, I just swapped out the battery last year when it hit 75% health. I'm glad they lost this lawsuit, though. False advertising is false advertising, period, even if their refurbs are as good as new.

So thats why apple keeps margins so high ... Beside the hw sw costs, they need to accommodate costs of payouts in lawsuits as well...

About those Samsung or Sony phones. Have not heard of them getting warranty rejected just with the water damage excuse but maybe they did reject it

Manufacturers have even warned people about this but people simply take that feature for granted and when a device fails they are upset to see that it is not covered in warranty

How easy it was to dismiss warranty repairs if you just said water was the reason and rejected the RMA... That's has been few years ago, I wonder if that was ever addressed...

I never understood this concept. I really wouldn't want MY phone replaced with a refurbished one, even if Apple certified it as "good quality". Only I know how I handled my phone and I'd want same one back. or a whole brand new one. Not a refurbished one.
