Weekly poll: what do you think of the changes and improvements brought by Android 12?

10 October 2021
The beta was the most downloaded beta in Android history - was that just bored geeks or are people genuinely excited by what Google has cooked up?

I had an iPhone, I bought an android hoping to save cost. It was a mistake. It had android 10 when I bought it and received two updates so far to 11 and 12. Both were bad: 12 is just a joke. Without my permission it updated to 12 and one morning I see my mobile data connection doesn't work anymore. I noticed look change and I realized I got android 12 update. I rebooted the device several times and nope, my mobile data connection doesn't work at all. Now 24 hour later I still don't know what the hell went wrong during the update.

I don't like android 12. Doesn't offer anything better or improved. Just look changed. I didn't like android from 10 when I bought my current device. Android in general is miles behind iOS. It is not a professional OS, it is a "me too" by google to collect information.

I have decided to throw this android phone to a donation center and get an iPhone 13 (yes, I know there is 14 out but 13 is much cheaper).

Good bye android, I tried to like you, but you are nosey and buggy.

What should we do with these clowns from Google?
They keep messing things up than actually fixing anything based on opinion from users (almost same with Apple clowns).

Jacksonzxop, 12 Oct 2021Accept the change already. Every skin on top of android and... moreI would if it wasn't functionally worse in implementation. The spacing is more, elastic over scroll reduces usability and makes navigation more slow and less snappy, google's new "larger" shortcuts in the notification menu can't be changed back (At least OneUI didn't accept this change).

Same thing as having resolution changing in YouTube being removed or buried further in menus, replaced by "high quality, data saver" instead of something like "720p, 1080p". There hasn't been a change in a decade, nobody asked for it, and you can't go back to the older menus.

Same thing with Google Play. It takes more presses to get to your app updates. Beta apps aren't visible in this menu. From what took a swipe and one tap turned into 3 taps. It's stupid. How about something useful like allowing you to view the app update change log while the app is queued for downloading?

Elastic over scroll gives me a headache and there is no way to disable it without disabling all other animations.

I am a real person.....the android 12 sucks. Takes more to get anywhere. The items on the screen are larger so you are forced to scroll further and then it is also sluggish. Not sure what they were trying to accomplish. My phone is like a tool. I want it to work and I want it to be consistent. If changes are to be made then have the options show what it will be and then let us choose to try them and then revert back. Don't just force us into the change and drop us....This also happened when I was getting ready to do some sports photos and the photos suck. Not sure if this is a pixel thing or an android 12 thing. Either way I am very unhappy. I went to a website where they are trying to say how good the Android 12 is and I went down the list of these 8 buried treasures items and tried them....They are horrible. Thoroughly unimpressed

it ruined my pixel 3 now i have to factory reset my phone and reload 11. DONT GET THIS UPDATE IF YOU HAVE A PIXEL 3! It crashes all my apps, looks horrible, and rearranged my whole phone.

I wish I could go back to Android 11 without wiping my phone. I was excited about some of Android 12's promised features, but the UI is just awful. The controls are bulky and bland, the lock screen message gets truncated, all the lovely Pixel customisations I previously made are gone (those stupid circles are everywhere again—so ugly!) and there's so much clutter and wasted screen space and a surprising number of bugs. I've been enthusiastic about previous Android updates but 12 just sucks. I'm disappointed every time I use my phone now.

Android is always better. No matter what. No iOS for me. Many people spread lies that if you don't like Apple you are poor or you never used. But it isn't true. I've used both.

I'll care when you can also "customize" the amount of bloatware, spyware and telemetry that Google and it's partners pre-install in the device, and when I can enable F-Droid to automatically update apps like the Play Store does. Until then, Googlified Android is not much better than iOS.
