Apple cuts iPhone 13 production estimates due to chip shortage

It's expecting to be able to make around 10 million less devices this year.

This is not the reason, reason is that Apple have their ecosystem which makes money from users as long as they keep using device. Others don’t have that, they want you to buy new device because that’s all the money others phone companies are getting, they don’t benefit if you keep your same phone years. So they just don’t update your perfectly working phone. But like the sales show, Android people have had enough with this and Android flagships are selling very poorly compared what they sold earlier, they are switching to iPhones.

No, I'm not stuck anywhere, all the Chinese brand sare absolutely terrible at it and they are the ones that just spam phones like rabbits. Wtf is going on in the comments here? How is any of this relevant to the article about the components shortage. If you like apple phones great, if you like android phones great, just buy whatever you can afford and want. Stop flaming each other for phone choices, seriously how is this even a problem for anyone? It’s just personal preference.

Android phones cost way lesser than iPhones so that's okay and as for me, Android is the way. If I get a free iPhone, I'll get rid of it and get an Android for just one reason: is better

Can't blame them, Android phones hardware is perfectly capable to run newest OS for many years, but OEMs only don't give it to you because they don't want you to keep same phone for long time, because they don't have ecosystem which makes money when you use your phone. So they have to sell you new one. But like the sales shows, people aren't falling for it anymore, they buy iPhone instead.

And we didn't even mention the fact how Android users have to wait months to get the update after it's been released

This phone that I am using got two Android updates and this is a 2017 phone. The other I bought in 2018 also got two updates and so did all my phones so far. At least two OS updates were there. A OnePlus phone I have got 3 OS updates

Moreover, every Nokia phone whether budget or flagship gets at least 2 updates. The xr 20 mid-ranger will get 3 os updates

Nowadays, even Chinese brands are improving on software update frequency and longevity. For example, both my 2019 phones from Xiaomi (Mi 9T and Redmi Note 8) got 2 Android versions and still getting security update even though they more than 2 years old. These are relatively cheap models, so flagships are getting even better support.

Plastic back on a 850€ phone... It's absolute madness. If I'm going to shell out that kind of money I may just as well buy an iPhone and get amazing metal and glass construction that feels incredible in hand. The moment Samsung puts back glass backs on ALL their Galaxy S models, I'll consider it again. Until then, not a chance. And I think a lot of people think this way, which is why the sales of Galaxy S are so sad.

No, Android phones do not get "years of updates". Cheap ones get just 1 major update and security updates. Slightly more expensive ones 1 major update and 1 extra year of security updates. Very few get 2 major updates and 1 extra year of security updates. And at 3+1, there is just Samsung. I think you're mixing up GooglePlay app updates and few components like WebView with actual monthly security updates. Meanwhile all iPhones since 2015 still get major OS updates and security updates. Which they'll continue to receive for few more years and then stop receiving them as well. Maybe it's you who doesn't know anything about updates and you'll be lecturing me here. Lol much?

Samsung have never sold that few galaxy S series phones, it just shows that people don’t want to buy Android high-end phones anymore, not even Samsung loyal users. People who want something better buy iPhone, most others just buy Android because it’s their only option because of the price.

” The day Apple allows iOS for adoption by other brands, they are over. Sales you brag will easily go down” but why would Apple do that? They already own the market by themself while Android companies are fighting for leftovers. Also if Apple would give iOS to other brands Android would be pretty much dead after that. Pretty sure many Android companies would make iOS phones instead Android if not all of them.

Record sales in comparison to their own sales figures, meanwhile Samsung does highest sales and beats by far Apple's figures.
