If this will come true and the Macbook pro will have a notch...brands like Samsung ,Huawei will also go that path...with very very thin bezels and a cut in the display

Or ... moreReally? Samsung alone is the biggest brand during that time. The only phone they've sold during that time with a notch-like cut out is the original Z Fold, a phone with a deliberately high sales price, near $3,000 bucks, to minimise the number of buyers.
The only Android brand known for notches is the disgraced spyware dispenser Huawei. I prefer not to have a direct line to Beijing on my phone so I've never bought any of their phones.

I really don't understand what's the problem of a thicker laptop. I like the idea of having a slim laptop especially in the case of the Macbook air, it's a brilliant machine. The macbook pro on the other hand, judging by its name I would expect that I can really get shit done without thinking about thermals. Whilst the M1 has far improved this situation, I still think it's room for great improvement by simply making the machine thicker, give it lots of ports(again macbook air can indeed have 2-4 ports because either way it's meant to be slick not a work horse), big display. Why would a notch be necessary on a laptop?! :facepalm:

Edit:
By the way, the Apple iPhone X (at this time thought to be the iPhone 8 or iPhone 9) design with notch was leaked MUCH EARLIER than Essential even started making their phone.
The Essential PH-1 notch WAS in response to/a copy off the Apple's notch.

Samsung, the largest one literally never used iphone style notch on it's phone FFS. If you're going by who was first, it was essential, made by same guy after whom android is named (ANDy Rubin)
