Apple Watches look nearly identical between active display and in sleep mode (AOD). I've seen Amazfit's one. You basically just have 2 options, analog and digital for AOD and they are entirely different from the face you're using for active. Where on Apple Watch, active and AOD watch faces are always identical, AOD just gets a bit dimmer and if there are larger white surfaces (like entire watch face being white) they get replaced by black color. I can have ANY watch face for AOD, be it any digital, any analog face, I can have Mickey Mouse on or whatever widget/complication I desire and it'll always be visible the way I want it, not the way AOD dial/face is defined by manufacturer. Amazfit's aren't bad, relative has it and it's actually quite nice, but I still like my Apple Watch 5 more despite every day charging. It has just become a routine that I don't pay much attention to.

Im not even asking for a 2-week battery life. id be happy with 7days. Heck id be happy with 3 to 5 days. But to defend an 18-hour battery life is arguably laughable.
Have you heard about Huawei watches? Fitbit? Garmin?

The watch usu... moreThe apps that run for 2 weeks on one charge are generally rather dumb and their Always-On Display is pathetic shadow of itself as they look nothing like the active face and you usually also have very limited selection. Faces on Apple Watch are basically identical between active and AOD mode, only large chunks of white are converted in black and everything else remains exactly the same. That in itself is worth just a single day battery charge.

And at what point has Apple said otherwise? I don't remember them saying "all new, all redesigned watch". It's just bigger more efficient display and faster charging.

Jon prosser's leaks were right. The actual design change of squarish one got messed up at last minute production. And they threw this bits and pieces of same last watch this year with a new model no. Within the last days. In one of his videos he pointed out the presentation workflow being cut and reshot to make it look like part of presentation.

why it must changed, its already functioning. The space inside the watch is small,
i mean you expect a camera inside a watch for a big change
