Chengo, 26 Oct 2021I just bought ,a Xperia 1 for 300bucks and has best screen ... moreYeah little bit overpriced but then again no one have actually put a pocket camera sensor to a phone before. Also obviosly you have no idea what phone is worth. Xperia 1 is old already.

this 1" sensor is still 4:3 and only 12MP and the 1800 Euro device will live max 3-4 years. So, this is just a waste of everything! if it had a 3:2 1" 24MP sensor and a 75mm wide screen and half the price than something else could happen, but NO to this one!

They probably sell thousands of these units, or tens of thousands of them if they are lucky, but their main source of income from a mobile phone department will always be Xperia 1/5/10 series. The astoundingly high price also makes sense since they do NOT want this new Xperia to cannibalize the sales of their existing cameras that are equipped with an equally sized sensor - those who are more serious about photography or vlogging capability will naturally consider getting RX100 series or ZV1 instead of this.

I think the name Xperia pro 1 sounds kinda dumb. But Xperia alpha? That has a good ring to it and photographers would recognize the alpha branding and be more inclined to buy the phone. Hello Sony? Where can I apply for marketing management? It's still a crazy phone and I'm sure it'll take some really really fine pics

I actually liked the Samsung Galaxy Camera that was released back in 2012 which was followed up by a Galaxy Camera and S4 Zoom. Is Sony releasing something like that?
The mobile industry would be very stale if the foldables never came along. Same form factor for the last 10 years. Would like more variety. Never cared for sliders but wouldn't mind seeing them make a comeback.

I saw a video on you tube showing the image of the new phone. It looks legit to me. They called it x pro 1. Sensor size used same as the rxo action cam 1inc sensor. F2.0-4.0 variable aperture.

Sometimes Pro is listed as out of stock on Amazon.
1iii was the #10 best seller in China on its first day. Sales were much more than predicted.
I would not be surprised if they reduce production of 1iii and 5iii in favor of this one.
Most of sales are Japan and Taiwan. Many people there can afford expensive phones.
30% of phones sold in Taiwan for at least $700 in 2020 were Sony.
Considering I doubt 1iv has this cam system (I bet on 1/1.5" or 1/1.3"), many may still choose this one in 2022.
Wanna bet that some will make scandal because Pro-I had to drop periscope to make room for larger wide cam?
