AMD unveils EPYC Milan-X processors with up to 768MB of L3 cache per socket

09 November 2021
That's for the 8-chiplet, 64-core designs. The 3D V-Cache is 64MB SRAM chips stacked on top of Zen 3 cores.

Kuba, 10 Nov 2021everyone praising AMD, guys, they are not run by engineers ... moreSo? Qualcomm makes amazing chips and they don't have own foundries. Apple makes amazing chips and they don't have their own foundries. NVIDIA makes amazing chips and they don't have their own foundries. It's almost as if owning a foundry has no bearing on making great chips...

AlienKiss, 10 Nov 2021How is this related to smartphones?GSMArena posts a few number of notable pc related articles as well. Of course this is not directly related to mobile, but you can indirectly divert the conversation to Computer market one way or another.

Anonymous, 10 Nov 2021This is far more interesting than Alder LakeNot really, since it's not for desktop. Maybe we'll see 3D V-cache in Zen 4.

rizki1, 10 Nov 2021Uuuwwwwooooowww 768MB L3 cache! my laptop is still 1MB L2 cache 😭At least you have a laptop. I'm struggling to buy one and almost every day the price is higher than yesterday 😂
PS Black Friday is a hoax! A week or two before it, all the prices go up, so when black Friday comes, they can lower the price and say: "see what a great offer we're having?!"

Kuba, 10 Nov 2021everyone praising AMD, guys, they are not run by engineers ... moreWhat? AMDs CEO Lisa Su literally has PHD from electrical engineering from MIT. I dont know if that meant to be just sarcastic, but its the intel who has been controlled by salesmen. This is actually the reason why AMD raised back up from ashes, because they are being led by engineers. TSCM is manufacturer, AMD makes their design, those are two different processes. Yes, intel has control over their manufacturing that is the reason why they are still stuck on 10nm, because they cant afford to be as flexible as other chip designers using third party manufacturers.

Kuba, 10 Nov 2021everyone praising AMD, guys, they are not run by engineers ... moreExcuse me? AMD designs and engineers their chips and they outsource it to TSMC to manufacture in their foundries, the exact same way Apple does. Would you argue that Apple is also run by a bunch of finance guys? AMD is comparatively smaller than Intel and can't afford to create a foundry setup. But what you said is true. Intel will come back stronger than ever.

                  Uuuwwwwooooowww 768MB L3 cache! my laptop is still 1MB L2 cache 😭

everyone praising AMD, guys, they are not run by engineers but FINANCIAL guys. they stopped building Chips!! they outsource chip making to TSMC !!! Intel TSMC and Samsung are basically all top chip makers. Intel will return one day strong.

The fight is for faster with lowerpower consumption, or you really think intel and AMD cannot do their own arm CPUs if they wanted?

ARM only advances by following in the footsteps of intel and AMD and losing the only supposed advantage it had (efficiency) in the process.
