My pixel 6 died while I was using it. The battery just ran out. I put it on the start charging stand and logged in the next morning using the fingerprint scanner. So what are we talking about here?

By the way, the comparison was between under-display fingerprint readers (hence the relation to the Pixel 6). The Mi 11 Lite 5G has one of those side-mounted fingerprint readers, so it’s not a proper comparison to the Pixels. I have never had a problem with Xiaomi’s under-display fingerprint readers.

It is not a bug. It is a feature.

A simple workaround is to never let the battery reach 0% while waiting for update from Google. But the main concern for users is whether there are more undiscovered bugs and flaws in the Pixel 6 series.

If you always recharge phone before it goes down to 0%, then finger scanner still gonna work.
If you let phone goes 0%, finger scanner does not work unless you perform factory reset.

It is true. my pixel 6 has no fingerprint option after my battery drained to 0%. I cant add a new finger or use the fingerprint again. I am currently using a password to unlock it (back to the old days) The phone is very good but I refuse to factory reset, because what is the point if this can happen next week. I will wait for a software update and I hope Google will find a solution soon.
