Honestly, for as much money they put into this, they should instead put that into R&D for those graphene batteries

If only they'd slap in 7000 mah batteries with 125w charging, I'd take it right away. What they're doing nowadays is using 4500mah batteries with 65 or 120w charging instead of bumping the capacity to 5000 mah. Such a disappointment. Hopefully the new phones have more than 5000 mah batteries with the 125w charging.

Shadocx, 13 Nov 2021It's really weird that the OnePlus Nord 2 explode when... moreI'm a fan of Nord 2 and according to the statistics, "it" happens very rarely.
Some investigations were conducted and concluded that the cause was an "external factor."
But it is expected from a manufacturer to design phones that can withstand "external factors" such as drops and moisture.

On the other hand, XiaoMi has designed their batteries with safety mechanisms that prevent the batteries from exploding, which they have patented. Hopefully, this type of safety design will be carried out, as faster charging speeds and bigger batteries are being used to more phones.

Yawnarama. Nobody needs silly charging currents, and if they don't drop very quickly they will be damaging the battery (bad for your wallet and the environment, but good for phone manufacturers if you are stupid enough to buy another phone from the same people when it wears out quickly).

It's just a marketing gimmick, like we used to have with megapixels in cameras (which is also back, except now they bin the pixels so they can claim "48MP" in their marketing and then give you a 12MP image - which is actually better than a 48MP image with a tiny sensor would have been, but you are still paying for nothing).

So I think it's maybe only your model.

And i use X7 Max with 50W charging, as well as 10W when im at home (mostly weekends), and it only gets slightly warm, not at all uncomfortable to hold

Josiah Burden, 13 Nov 2021Once you experience 65w it will change your view on chargin... moreI don't get how these people enjoy waiting more than 2 hours for their phones to charge, we don't even need overnight charging anymore with 65W+, it's so easy to charge before going to work or school.
Meanwhile someone was selling their phones with 5W chargers, that must have been a nightmare, glad I've always had phones with 10W+.

Every phones I've owned had their battery degrading after 2 years, regardless of charging speed, so to me it's just unavoidable.

EliseKlevr, 13 Nov 2021Charging or not, phones may explode. OnePlus Nord 2 for example. It's really weird that the OnePlus Nord 2 explode when OnePlus have been using 65W in the 8T, 9, 9 Pro, 9R.
I'm starting to think the Mediatek chipset might be to blame.

The highest charging that I have tried on smartphones is 44W (Vivo X70 Pro) and although it was too fast to charge my phone fully in 1 hour, the amount of heat it generated made me look for an option to turn off fast charging but there was no such option in the UI. Now I downgraded to 33W Fast Charging on my Redmi Note 10S and it's still more than enough for me. There's no conclusive research on the effects of fast charging on the battery life so I'm always cautious. Honestly, heat generated is quite lot when using fast charging and I'm afraid to use the phone while its charging. So I think fast charging upto a certain limit is good but there should be an option within the UI to turn off fast charging when not required.
