My present plan is to keep them until the 2023 editions come out. Apple has very little physical presence in my country so replacing batteries isn't an option. I'll just sell them then

Anonymous, 23 Nov 2021Wow, a full day on almost a full charge. Great quality.Clearly someone who hasn't seen an actual Apple Watch in person. Watch faces in AOD mode are identical to their active ones. And it's almost as bright. Every single other "smartwatch" I've seen turned watch face into entirely different visually when it entered AOD mode. And they were always quite dim. So yeah, showing such bright and colorful display for entire day from that tiny battery is an achievement. Not to mention all the other sensors that are running in the background constantly and are very accurate at it. With all the apps that are actual apps and not just a feature bolted onto a watch with same name as the app that has roughly similar functionality and is absolutely unconditionally smooth running things. Name one other watch that has all that and lasts 30 days. Or 14 days. Or 7 days. There isn't one. They'll last the same while usually have terrible watch face in AOD. I got the watch to have a watch, not a blank wrist band.

I am still rocking with my iphone xr and AW series 4Only reason I didn't grab early versions is because I hate "smart watches" that are blank when I don't wiggly my wrist around. Just looks stupid and isn't functional. AW5 has AOD and it's brilliant. Looks absolutely amazing and I get a full day from a 80% charge even with AOD. Now that I have it, everything else isn't all that important, not even display size on AW7 as I already have the larger 44mm one so it's fine.

Still performing great and getting all the updates. My only real requirement for watch was Always-On Display feature which AW5 has.
New models are interesting for people buying new model this moment. And some who decide to upgrade anyway. But the way Apple runs things, you're not pressured into anything. Far less than with Android devices actually because of how long are you getting said updates..

WHY does Apple even contemplate a new series watch if there is no enhancement? Just to line the pockets of the shareholders and horde more cash? It 'might' drag in new users but no upgraders obviously.

The Apple Watch 8 will have the design that people and leakers thought the Series 7 would have. I bet. Apple's playing tricks to confuse these leakers, that's for sure.

Everyone wants the squared off edges design but I don't think it would look very good on a watch, imo

Tech people need to stop holding their breath for an Apple Watch re-design. Its never gonna happen. Watches don't change design - and remember Apple studied the high-end watch industry heavy when they were developing Apple Watch. Have you ever seen a Tag Heuer or Omega or Breitling model get a totally new design of the same model? It doesn't happen. These aren't smartphones.
