The Pixel 7a will likely use the same unless Google have a new sensor next year.

Almost all phones output 12-16mp shot by default, iphones not an exception. What's different is Andorid phones nowadays tend to use multi-bayer setup which is why you hear 64mp or 108mp etc.

None cares about Tensor. If performance is your thing then SD870 is more stable and 888 is faster.

Don't buy this abomination. Aside from lacking a 3.5mm headphone jack, Literally EVERY phone on market, even entry level ones will have better main camera sensor than this! I mean, imx363 is only good enough for ultrawide by today's standards.
As for HDR+, you could use GCam on many of those phones, don't even need Pixels (even less reason to buy Google products in general).
If you want stock android experience get yourself a g100 or zenfone 8, worth every penny over this.

Aren't there reports that the Tensor chips are problematic? That's probably to be expected of any first gen tech products. Might need to wait another two years before Tensor chips become world class.

Clearly you don't read previous posts between other users before jumping to conclusions.
The guy was complaining about how the pixel 6 camera is taking 6-7 sec for night-sight shot with no way to change it while iPhone is taking the same in 1-3sec (although the iPhone images were noticeably darker)
This is where I suggested using gcam mods where you can easily adjust the amount of frames taken during night sight in settings menu, thereby adjusting the time taken, save it on a profile for easy switching.
As easy as switching between different shooting modes for users!
My solution was to allow the pixel to cut the time taken during night sight to 2-3 sec using gcam mod, which apparently isn't present on stock Google camera application on pixel.

No it's a one time setting in gcam app.
You can even save profiles for amount of frames or whatever other settings you want to tweak
Switch profiles in 1sec... Easy!!
And if your pixel is taking 6 sec for one shot and 8-10 sec for processing, then you need to simply install gcam mod.
Even on budget devices, night sight doesn't take this much time with gcam mod.

If it is important to get very fast shot, capture with standard capture mode. It REALLY is easy and straightforward. Some modders even put those parameters into viewfinder so that you can get on the go changes.

You configure the HDR+ Enhanced and Night Sight settings according to your need first, then switch between ZSL HDR+, HDR+ Enhanced and Night Sight depending on the scenes.

Now the main question is that the device is bigger than pixel 5 with 4080mAh battery and smaller than pixel 4a5g with 3885mAh battery. Main difference between these two is omitting of 3.5mm audio jack. If that will be the case, then we really should expect bigger battery than 4080mAh. This is good news for 6.2" size phone. We maybe can expect a battery life as with 5a (over 120h)
With that much similarity to pixel 6, I am absolutely sure they will remove high refresh rate which will give even more battery life.

I am also one of the GCam devs and we add those parameters for people who want to feel professional. Normal GCam doesn't allow changes because it assumes users would not know how to revert back or not understand what they are changing. But a person who installs a 3rd party GCam mod is using it on its own and should check what to change and how to by himself.

Without an updated camera this is pointless... using the same old camera might aswell just stick to the pixel 5. also if its bigger than the pixel 5 its even more pointless.

Most people won't be able to find such settings lol. Moreover, you're not supposed to change settings on GCam mods so frequently in the first place - that's not how they are intended to be used.
